I admit, I got the revolver bug after reading Unintended Consequences.
I rented a Ruger .44 Mag and was a bit intimidated by the size of the big cartridges and gingerly touched off a few cylinders.

"Hey, this is FUN!"

I instantly noticed that if I was careful, the big wheelgun was much more accurate than my Glock 22. I liked that the sights were fixed to the barrel instead of a floating slide. The kaboom, the tactile feedback, the impressive holes being cut in the target... Good stuff!

I found a Performance Center 629 locally and bought it. I started collecting wheel weights and casting them into ingots, all the while shooting on the evenings and weekends. Pretty soon I had a set of 6 cavity molds and 8lbs of H110. I became the campus leader of the Students for Concealed Carry on Campus for my last semester. I graduated with my degree in Mechanical Engineering and my Dad and brother surprised me with a John Ross 500 S&W.

Here's my brand new Big Bore (serial #013 :neener:) next to the PC 629 and my 3-screw Single Six.
I had to get the Ken Null holster to go with the 500. It's everything I hoped. The gun feels fantastic. Can't wait to shoot it. I have a couple sample packs coming from ballistic supply, 350gr -> 700gr.
Looks like the H110 won't last as long as I thought.

Welcome to the club...it's addicting, and you will eventually start making trips to the hospital for unknown joint pain...

I know I do. But I keep buying the damn things. Next I plan on dislocating my shoulder with my newest purchase :p

It's fun now but it shouldn't be too long before you realize big bores don't have to have their throttles firewalled on every shot. Hopefully you will change powders when you figure this out.

I don't intend to shoot maximum loads out of this gun all the time. The H110 was intended for the .44 but since it is suitable for both guns, I will use it until I pick up some .223 powder.

Ya, the H110 gives impressive loads but you can't download it very much. Because of the dangers I keep it a good bit above minimum. You don't have much to play with anyway only like 2grains difference.
