I didn't want to hijack the other Cobra thread, so I though I'd make another one.

I spotted a Tyler's T-grip and an old school holster in the case at Ali-Babba's House O Guns a few days ago. Turned out the T-grip was next to the holster and was attached to a the butt of a Colt Cobra that was in the holster.

(For those who don't know, the Cobra is a six shot, alloy frame, fixed sight revolver.)

Since I wanted the T-grip and the holster, I bought the gun to go along with them.

With the holster.

It was made in 1961 according to Proofhouse. I took it to the range yesterday and put 50 rounds of PMC ammo through it. Shoots as good as I can shoot any snub. A dab of white nail polish, under a dab of orange and the old girl is ready to take her place in a Don Hume J.I.T. holster.

Congratulations. The Cobra is one of the finest lightweight snubs ever made. Bear in mind that they are an aluminum frame and no longer made. Shooting +P or magnumized loads would be hard on the old girl. Mid-range wadcutters make for a great plinking load.

Nice snubbie!

Pardon my ignorance, but did Colt produce Cobras to offer a lightweight Detective Special? And when was the Agent introduced (I understand it is the least collectible of the 3 versions). Thanks for the info!

Yes, it is a lightweight version.. The later Agents are the least desirable due to often poor fit and finish. They are still good guns, though. I often carry one. Early Agents are nice guns.

Patent leather holster? That's something you don't see anymore. Looks in pretty good shape.
