This came from the E.Nashville TN list-serve. The area is "gentrifying" with middle class folks moving in and renovating the older homes. It still has plenty of holdovers and the projects arent too far away. I told the woman she had done the right thing. Anything to add?

<<I am just looking for feedback as to whether my husband and I are being
paranoid, or just cautious.

Around 5pm yesterday my husband (jeff) parked in front of the house in
order to run in and grab a few things, etc. Meanwhile, he hears a knock
at the door. He thought it was our neighbor. He yelled, hang on Levi,
and proceeded to open the door, but first peeked through the blinds
realizing it wasn't our neighbor, nor anyone we knew. Now the man was
clearly trying to look inside our house, however, jeff didn't answer the
door. Jeff was ready to leave after about 7 minutes, and the man was
still standing out there. Jeff ask what he needed and the man said,
your lights are on. Jeff thanked him. The man yelled, hey man your
lights are on. Jeff yelled back through the door, okay thank you. (the
lights on his truck were on.) The man kept badger him about the lights,
so Jeff yelled, if you don't get off my porch I'm calling the cops. The
man left, walked down to the sidewalk to meet a woman, and continued
walking. He also proceeded to yell and cuss at my husband, along with a
few flips of the bird as he continued walking.

It was nice of him to let Jeff know about the lights, but what did he
want a handshake, or more? As a rule I never answer the door if I don't
know who is knocking.

It was a white male, 5'8" reddish/brown short hair, wide face, light
brown eyes, about 150LBS, 3-5 day scruff....The lady had dark hair in a
bun, and heavy set. >>

This is TN, some people are actually that stupid. Or it could have been an attempt at a snatch and grab.. get you outside, take the keys and the truck.
