I know I've read a bunch of reviews here but I just had to mention what a pleasure the Ruger LCP is!

I got it for my birthday and put 150rounds through it, no problems at all! Was very snappy without the finger extension so I am going to buy another for my spare mag. The extension doesn't even take up room in the pocket when installed.

Pros ....
-Vanished in my pocket
-Flawless function
-Cheap! $350 with 2 mags and a DeSantis pocket holster.
-Great holster as part of the package.
-Amazingly accurate. Was holding 3" at 25' in the freezing rain and knee deep snow

Cons .....
-Magazine release is easy to release while firing (small gun, can fix with practice)
-Painful to clean the slide rails, they're so small! In fact the whole thing is hard to get into the cracks if you get any q-tip lint stuck in a crevice.
-.380 is pricey around here (Whitebox is $34.94 for 100rds defensive ammo was $40 for 20rds of corbon at one place, which I graciously passed up)

It's my first pocket pistol and I love it so far. I'm so used to my sp101 for every day carry, I had no idea how uncomfortable it was until I stopped wearing it. My back is actually sore from not sitting funny in the car! My wife loves the gun as well, and she just may end up keeping it when I can get my hands on an LC9. I think I may order one of those this weekend!

I really like mine as well. I am one of the few that feels 100% confident in the caliber......I just have to make sure the 102 grs go in the right spot - but pray I never need to.

I just traded a pos Diamondback for an LCP. I only have about 125 rounds through it. But I already trust it more than the Diamondback.

I'm so pleased I'm sitting here loading my sp101 with 38+p's for the wife to use at home. I've looked at the caliber's so many times and decided that 12" of penetration is 12" of penetration.

Almost every SD round out there seems loaded to do exactly 12" in gelatin. And the .380 - .38spl - .357 all seem to open up to .45~ which leaves me wondering how much more you can expect for the noise and weight of a larger gun? I'm sure if I was carrying a 4" .357 I'd see a notable increase, but that is pretty excessive when the round will pass through the target completely. It's wasted energy. Of course I want a bigger gun when I can but the reality is I like my gun concealed and to be comfortable when I carry. I had no idea I could be so relaxed all day. I never once worried about my LCP printing, if anything I noticed myself with my hand in my pocket too often to see if it was still there!

As for the information on ballistics I've seen, you can reference the brassfetcher links below. Yes some are short barrel examples, but I am talking about concealed carry firearms for the most part. The .357 4" was in there to demonstrate what overkill is.

.380

.38spl

9mm +P

.357 4" bbl

.40S&W

.44Magnum

357 nice review on the Ruger LCP.

It's a toss up between the Kahr P380 and the Ruger LCP. Still going back and forth. Many like the LCP, lots of good reviews.

Again, ammunition selection with the .380 is critical.

Wow, you're better off with 90 grain. FMJ will have more penetration power also. Cor Bon 90 grain JHP is a good round.

i really like mine. i put the ct laser on it...not sure i would do that again. great ccw when i can't carry the hk. just got my new holster from winthrop holsters along with a double mag holder for my left hip.
