My father passed away this weekend. So my brother was going to wire open my hog trap.
His dog found this guy in the brush on the way there.
A 180 gr MBC bullet pushed by 15 grains of H110 dropped it in its tracks.

My brother said the empty casing hit the ground at the same time the hog did.

Pretty cool, that. The only time I have ever had a hog die on contact was fairly chunky fellow, just about 200 lbs that I hit side-on in the neck with a .62 cal musket ball from my 20 ga rifled H&R. Blew a chunk out of the neck and spine and the hog just dropped, no jump, no flinch, nothing. Bang, thwack, red mist, drop. Every other hog I have ever shot has given some kind of drama. Except for the monster feral porker that I shot three times in the head with Ruger level 250 grs JSP from a Rossi 92. He just trotted around in a circle after the first shot and after the third, slowly sat down and expired. All three shots went into the skull, and two into the brain itself.

He said this one went nose down and started doing the dead hog kick & squeal. He ran up and slit it's throat because he was scared of drawing more in the thick brush.
BTW I had shot this boar last spring with a 40s&w. It was 60 yards away and dropped only to get up and run off. I left in the opposite direction just as fast. It has a white scar running up it's forehead from the bullet.

My father was a Christian role model

Graduation day for your Dad. It’s the hole it leave to those here that is hard. God bless your family in your time of remembrance and mourning.

In the simple words you said about your father you can tell some of the character he had.

Make sure you and your brother keep those memories alive they are salve in tough times.
