It now comes out that the "alleged" perp in the Idaho murder/kidnapping used a shotgun to capture the family before he tied them up. Clearly the reports are erroneous. This man was a convicted felon ... it was against the law for him to have a firearm.

When, oh when, will the antis do as Ann Landers used to recommend, and "wake up and smell the coffee"? All the laws on the books do nothing to disarm evil people who are intent on gatting firearms. All they do is make it difficult for honest, innocent people to protect themselves.

Aye, the War on Guns will be every bit as effective as the War on Drugs :uhoh:

That's why I don't give a flip about felons buying guns ... they will get them anyway somehow, and I'd just as soon they went to the store and bought them as to break into my house and steal mine.

Oh, and everytime I get to feeling tired of packing this weight around on my hip all day, I read an article like this and get straight again.

It also says something else about this animal -- he had a shotgun, but chose to beat 3 (or 4) people to death. :barf:

I pray for that poor little girl. May the love of the community be poured out on her to help her for the rest of her life.

Missing the point as always.

Here in the People's Republic of MN the papers are attacking the Governor for not passing tougher sex offender laws earlier. Thing is, this guy could have registered a dozen ways from sunday and that wouldn't have stopped him from driving into another state with no warning and destroying a random family horribly.

The prohibition against felons possessing firearms (18USC922(g)) does not hinder any honest or innocent person's ability to protect themselves. Honest and innocent people are NOT convicted felons. Sure some felons still get guns, but that does not mean the law is useless. Murder is illegal, but we don't say the homicide laws are useless just because people still commit murder.

I can provide many examples of how 18USC922(g) has been very effective in locking up serious criminals. Just because LE can't get them all doesn't mean the law is completely pointless.

Then they would have to register their guns. That would be the difference between BGs and normal folks. The BGs have to register their guns.

Naw. That might make sense.

As we all know, crooks will get guns reguardless of laws; DocZinn however makes a good point.

The BGs have to register their guns.

I recall reading someplace, sometime that BGs don't have to register their guns since doing so would violate their rights against self incrimination. :banghead:
