Another Lee mold question

Yeah, I've heard that often about 231 (and other Winchester powders) over the years.

Odd because that's the only brand of powder that has consistently available locally for me.

I would like to try more Ramshot powders but I've only ever seen it once locally (TAC, and I bought some)

I don't shop HazMat online.
When they were independent and the cheapest around ramshot represented good value. Tac in 223, and 308 and hunter in 7.7 and 6.5x55 were gooder. I like Silhouette in 357 a lot. Now I will be testing out shooters world as a new standard.

I see a lot of use of Sillouette, True Blue looks like a very versatile one also.

Would like to see them on a shelf some day.

I forget about Shooters World powders.

Don't see them locally either but they seem to be well represented.

I have enough powder that, I never bought another grain, I'll have enough for my, and my kids lifetime!

But, I probably wouldn't turn down many chances to pick up some more :D

I'm lucky in that regard, I have/had 5 well stocked (except for Ramshot ) shops within ½ hour (one guy retired and closed the doors for good this past summer)

Curious about how that 255gr works out for you!

Good luck, stay safe.
That's how I had it when I worked in Tulsa, OK. I was an hour out. But did my shopping after work.
I cast some. So I'll be trying tomorrow.

If I find some ultimate their unique I'll bring some home.

So it looks like the only pressure tested data I can find is for silhouette with a 250 plated flat point.
Mine weigh 252 grains.
My COAL is 1.19 to give me reliable feeding when I hit the slide release.
My wife saw the dummy round and said wow that's a fat bullet.
I'll try to get around tomorrow and test for accuracy and reliability.
I'll take some of my 200s as a comparison.

It is a chubby looking round (I kinda like it)

I'll bet it hits with some authority.

I've recently become acquainted with the .45 colt cartridge and after researching load data and other info on the cartridge, I've really started to appreciate big hunks of lead flying at moderate speeds.

I don't have 231.
I only have titewad, bullseye, 700x, titegroup, 7625, IMR green, green dot, wst, universal, unique, CFE pistol, and wsf.
I want to finish burning up the bullseye and unique since it's old enough to be in card board.
Then I'm going to jump around and see what wins accuracy wise.

My money is on 700x and greeen dot.

Here are initial results from Silhouette and the 255 at 10 yards.

I dropped the shots on the 5.7 gr load. So I walked away and regrouped. 5
I need to retest 5.7 and 6.1.
Losing 25 pounds of muscle since my accident really hurt my handgun shooting.
There were zero malfunctions. Recoil was mild. Brass was ejected in little piles starting at 3 feet going to about 6 feet as charge weight increased.

Looks like there was some potential with 3 or more touching in some groups... nice

I really think the 6.1 gr load will be as accurate as the 5.5. But I got shaky fast. I'm going to work my stability muscles before shooting again.
At least I know they cycle.

Bfh auto I have several lee molds . But take a look at Noe bullet molds they have nice molds and quite a few styles. Also look at accurate molds
I just learned something about Lee molds. You have to go slow casting 255gr bullets. I can pour a 452-255, then cast 3 sets of my 38-200 before cutting the sprue on the 255.
Is that why you suggested the other companies?
With my heavy bullet NOE molds and light Lee ones. I can pour sit a couple seconds, cut, dump and repeat.

The two cavity lee molds don't have very much thermal mass and the larger the bullet the worse it gets. Your final size and weight will be equally effected. Even with a 38-158 I could not cast near as fast as my brass 38-156 noe. I can just keep casting with that mold at a good clip.
