Just got a new Kimber .17 Mach 2 conversion unit (steel slide) and put 100 rounds of CCI thru it. Well, first was an interesting experience- getting it to go on a 1911 frame. When I tried it on a Sistema .45 frame it wouldn't go completely on, but seemed to hang up on the ejector maybe? Anyway I switched to a Colt Commander frame which previously was being used with a Kimber .22 conv. unit (Kimber says it will work on any 4 or 5 inch .45 1911 frame). OK- mission accomplished. Now for the shooting- the CCI ammo generally functioned well but there were 6 FTF's and 2 FTRTB in the 100 rounds I fired (yes I did lube it before shooting). OK- new unit, new mag (5 of the FTF's and both FTRTB were with the Kimber .17 Mach 2 mag supplied with the unit). About half the 100 rounds were fed thru another Kimber mag- the .22 mag from my Kimber .22 conv. unit. When using this mag I only had 1 FTF. BTW the FTF's were random rounds in the mags, not the first or last. Anyway I'm going to get some more ammo and try to give it a real workout soon. I'm able to get the CCI ammo for $5.65 per box of 50. Some people are getting it for $4.75 I think thru Natchex Shooters' Supply.

Mongo- the .17 units haven't been out long. I called Kimber to get info after I saw one at my dealer. They are scarce- Kimber claims production can't keep up with demand? Anyway they cost around $350, or you can buy the complete pistol in .17 M2 for about $675.
