Alrighty, in the other thread I wanted to know about magnum cylinders. Sorta the same but I just got the single six out of the safe to see if there were any marks on the cylinder.

There are no marks on the cylinder, the frame just has New Model Single Six .22cal. It doesn't specify LR or Magnum.

I pulled the cylinder out and started checking the bullets and cases and they're actually a little loose in the cylinder.

Is there a way to tell which cylinder I have without taking it to a gunsmith?

What Gator said. If a .22WMR will go in, that's what it is. You might want to give those chambers a good scrubbing before you try it, with a bronze brush and solvent. My buddy shot his for years (with .22LR ammo) and one day at the range he let me shoot it. Noticed that one or two fired cases out of each cylinder was split, and started looking it over and lo and behold, he had the magnum cylinder. It was the only one he ever had for the gun. Now that he's using the correct ammo, he finds the gun more useful and more accurate, he couldn't be happier.

I could be wrong, but hasn't the extra .22 Magnum cylinder with the New Model Single Six always been unfluted, with a roll mark on the cylinder denoting that?

No, it hasn't.

Clean that cylinder very well, then try Gator's "drop in a .22Mag round" test.

If the .22Mag only goes in part way, it is the .22LR cylinder. If the .22LR ammo seems loose, you probably have the .22Mag cylinder

The early "New Model" Single-Six extra cylinders were not fluted and roll-marked as JohnBT's pic shows.

Thanks for the info; but is the extra cylinder marked anywhere that it's chambered for the .22 Magnum?

Older cylinders will not be marked at all. Newer ones are unfluted and rollmarked .
