learned about a trade store that specializes in military surplus. Stopped in, and grabbed a new 91/30 Mosin.
It's a Tula, dated 1935, hex receiver, rifle only, and I grabbed it for $160. Kind of high for a Mosin, but it was in pretty nice condition. No gouges, bore shined very nicely, no counterbore, no pitting - didn't even notice any real browning inside, no pits or anything on the bolt group, no cosmoline, matching numbers, the wood matches, etc.
post-'27 Tula star
Tula hex on the right, my other Mosin (izzy '43, round receiver) next to it
how'd I do?
