. . . because they'd have to learn how to hunt to get any food. I spend all my money on guns!

Picked up two new rifles today, one very old and one very new. A Mosin Nagant 91/30, mfg date 1939 according to the receiver. Looks like it was Izhevsk arsenal, couldn't tell you if/when it was rearsenaled. It's got the spliced stock near the forend, and looks to be in good condition. I'll give a range report once I've had the opportunity to clean the cosmoline out and do safety checks. The other is a CZ 527 carbine in 7.62x39. It's light and handy, action is smooth and goes to my shoulder very well.

The mark under the Izhevsk arsenal mark is a rearsenal stamp, or so I was told. My 91/30 was made in '43 at Izhevsk and rearsenaled to excellant condition. I got all the goodies with it(bayonet, ammo pouches, cleaning kit, sling) for $84.00, tax included. Thats one heck of a deal.

That cat looks very sweet, so he or she is more than worthy to have a serious arsenal for protection against idiotic and sub-human hunters from Wisconsin who would hunt your precious cat.

I have a sizable gun collection that is protected by a sizable cat collection.

People in Wisconsin hunt domestic housecats? I'm glad I was only passing through! :uhoh:

Thanks for the comments. I think the cat might be a gun snob, and was really just inspecting the receiver engraving.

M.E.Eldridge, that is a Remington Model 8, in .35 Remington. From what I read, Remington started producing them from a Browning Patent circa 1906. You can read some articles on them at these links, including Remington's page on it. I don't know if the cheekpiece was a factory custom job or not. Don't confuse it with the Remington Noiseless 8, which is not, as it might sound, a suppressed version of the same rifle. ;)

That Remington is a great classic rifle, don't see too many of them. It looks to be in pretty good shape too. Nice find!
