I've been shooting almost exclusively CCI caps since Remington's are hard to find or $10 per 100.

I've noticed in the pile of CCI #11's tins I have some are marked magnum. Curious if anyone has seen a discernable difference in accuracy between these regular vs magnum caps.

I'll use most of these on revolvers and every now and then for an inline .50 or when I swap the nipple on muskets to save musket caps.

Accuracy no, ignition yes. Magnum caps do seem to have more consistent and louder ignition than regular caps.

I got some of the last CCI #11s MidwayUSA had. They fit a bit loose on the stock Pietta nipples. So I improvised a way to "squose" them down a bit. They work after the squeeze is put on them.

Then recently, after some investigation, I bought some of the last RWS caps MidwayUSA had in stock. I shot some on New Year's eve. They fit and worked fine. But they seem to be more powerful than others. And seem to explode into fragments.

Sooo, less cap jams.? :)

I tested 60 shots (typical Cowboy Action Shooting match) with RWS caps on 12/31/2020. The caps seem to bust and fall off the nipples fine. I did notice that one gun felt dragy but figured it was from the cold temperature of 30°. When I went to clean the guns, it had 3 pieces of cap inside the action.

@Bibbyman i have a wire stripper/crimper like you're using there. Care to share your process?

I drilled out one of the crimp stations to .160 (maybe a little bigger). I placed a .154 dia drill bit in the vise shank up. I place cap on post. Lightly crimp with crimper tool. I noticed that this one squeeze works but leave two little ridges. So I turn cap or tool 90° and apply another light crimp. The cap should feel tighter on drill shank.
