Okay, I know there are a number of posts and pics now on the Rohrbaugh R9S but I couldn’t help myself as I just received my new R9S on Wednesday (5/13) after waiting since February 23rd, 2003! One of the few things that has helped the wait is reading all the posts here – thx to everyone for sharing! The following are some comments and pics of my R9S.

Fit and Finish: I don’t have anything to add here.. very high quality, nice finish, tight tolerances.. beautiful. Mine has the dark anodized frame.

Shootability: I’ll first say that I will put 800 rounds a month through my 9mm’s so I’d say I’m not a casual shooter. I love 9mm’s and have shot most brands out there in various sizes. I have been questing for the “perfect†carry gun. Prior to this gun, I’d say my favorite is the Kahr K9. Shooting the R9S requires a very good grip. I have not been a victim of “limp wristing†before, but after shooting 100 rounds through this gun and having two failures to extract and a few miss feeds, I can now say that I am guilty. Adjusting my grip and really holding on, I have now shot more rounds through the gun without issue. Second thing I can say about shooting this gun is that my trigger finger is a bit sore even two days after shooting! My hands are an average size for a man and I can easily place the trigger right in the center of the end section of my index finger.. only problem is that I’m not strong enough to pull it all the way back to the break point this way (see comments on trigger pull). Because of this, I put my index finger in deeper until the right edge of the trigger is right at the joint. This seems to focus punishment at the joint - I think this is due to both the recoil and edge of the trigger. Recoil is easily manageable but expectedly sharper than larger 9mm’s.

Accuracy: I don’t have any targets to show but I was able to place 90% of my shots inside of a 3†ring at 21’ for the first 10 magazines.. This was standing, shooting two handed. After the first 60 or so rounds, I was getting a bit sore and didn’t do as well. My final comment on accuracy is that this little gun is quite accurate and the sights are right on for me. I don’t have any problems acquiring a sight picture with these sites.

Trigger Pull: Loooong & smooth with some final resistance. The trigger breaks almost all the way to the back with additional resistance just prior to the break point. Trigger travel is approx. 1 1/8†with the final 1/8†having the greater resistance. After break, there is approx. 3/16†between the trigger and the frame. There would be no question about one’s intention to fire this gun – this thing won’t be going off unexpectedly.

Carry: I have it in a De Santis “Nemesis†holster for a P3AT – fits perfectly. This rig does not move around at all and feels great in my pocket. I live in Phoenix Arizona and it is already getting hot. I’d forget I’m carrying this gun if I wasn’t so pleased with it and that’s the first time I’ve ever been able to say that about a 9mm.

Rohrbaugh Firearms: Their commitment to individual/personal service is amazing. This has been said elsewhere so I won’t go into it again... I’ll just confirm. {Eric, I really appreciate the personal touch}.

Final thoughts: I believe I’ve finally found the perfect anytime anywhere carry gun. The only thing I’m kind of disappointed about is that I no longer feel the need to search for something better. After all, the search is a lot of fun :)

Take Care,
Brian

Goona note future and present Rohrbaugh owners, that Azrael on this Board makes a real nice back pocket holster for the Rohrbaugh..he sent me one and I walked around with the Rohrbaugh holstered in my pocket...awesome...

Nice guns too :)
