What do you get when you mix Hakans and K&D GunLeather???

This!

You see my CZ-85 Compact dressed with Black Palm Hakan grips. Front sight is Hi-Viz. Full Length Stainless Steel guide rod supplied by Jack Ash Custom. Horsehide holster professionally made by K&D Holsters. Awesome package!

Here’s a better look at the front sight:

And together they are S-W-E-E-T!

You’ve seen my praise of the Hakan’s in a previous post – but now I’d like to speak about the other accessories. The SS FLGR debate has gone back and forth. Many claim that if there was a true benefit to having a solid ( and straight! ) guide rod, then CZ would’ve made it a standard part. I, for one, feel better that its there. It’s much stronger. It’s straight. It makes me feel better. And it looks waaaay cool peeking out the front end of the CZ! Turn around time from Jack Ash is speedy. I’m going to order one for my 75BD also.
The Hi-Viz sight. I like it. The ‘Cool Factor’ is way up there on looks…..but I bought it more for it’s designed purpose………front sight enhancement. As you can see from the pic above, the damn thing is wicked bright in the sunlight. But in the average indoor room, not much of a difference is noted. Although I like it on the 85 Compact, I ain’t gonna run out and get one for my other CZ’s.

And as for the holster - I’m in love with it! I’m far from being a holster expert…..but I know what I like. Simply trying on holsters doesn’t ( I feel ) doesn’t qualify one to make a good responsible judgment about a particular holsters comfort/feel/wearability. I’ve come to find that in order to REALLY get a feel for a holster…..ya gotta wear the thing for a minimum of three days straight. By then, you’ll definitely get to know where every pressure point is; where every annoying rub spot is; that it has a preference to shift different from where you want it; that maybe you aren’t all that confident with the holster’s ‘retention’; etc….
The holster is called the IWB Belt Defender by Kevin Manley of K&D Holsters. This holster is my most favorite I’ve ever experienced. It’s absolutely comfortable. It rides solid ( NOT hard ) on my hip. I can adjust for a straight vertical carry, or I can easily cant it ( see the adjustment fasteners and holes in the pics above ). The holster is very well made and Kevin did an excellent job with its design. The CZ-85 isn’t a light firearm, but I can wear it comfortably all day in the Belt Defender.
Kevin’s customer service is great. I’m a guy who likes a lot of info before I commit to something, and Kevin quickly answered every question I fielded him. His turn-around time is very good and prices are reasonable. I’m actually ready to order a K&D OWB holster for my 75BD. The only thing I guess I’d suggest to Mr. Manley is to get more pics on his site to let people know that he crafts more holster styles for more firearms than his website reveals.

Overall – I’m very satisfied with this package. My next project is my 75BD. It ain’t stayin’ stock! Sooo let the orders to Hakan, Jack Ash, K&D, nite sights ( haven’t decided which manufacturer ) begin!

Where did you find the short CZ-85? Just so you know that is one very nice looking gun. Dare I ask just how much the base gun runs?

It's not a short 85 as you imagine.

CZ-85 Compact = limited run ( less than 90 manufactured ), steel framed, ambi safety, .40 S&W.

I think it cost me $440 out-the-door.

Thats not bad considering most glocks run that much. To much for me of corse :/ I hope that thing fires as nice as it looks.

You can actually conceal that? Wow. That holster looks like it rides way way too high.

Naw....look at the top of the belt clips. They're perfectly in line with the top of the holster. I let my shirt hang out over the firearm. Printing isn't a problem.

I don't know why but I love the way this gun looks. I think it looks like some thing from Blade Runer.

Very, very nice. I just wish CZ didn't use the round hammer style......no reason really, just grates on me.

Those grips are wild looking/ they really set off the pistol. Great looking setup.
By the way thanks, now I have another pistol that I just have to get. (LOL).

I'm with him ^

You should give it to me. I will give it a loving home and use it every weekend for target practis. You could probably even wright it off for taxes so you get your cash back :)

Uh - I've had the 85 Compact since last summer. The grips since mid winter. The holster since December. The Jackash guide rod since December.

The post? A few days ago. :scrutiny:
