If this is in the wrong place, I apologize.

Happened in Maryland today. The only fatality was the shooter. Apparently the school has a constant police presence? Hmm, look what happens to an armed attacker when they attack a place with armed personnel.

Any rate, CNN reports this is the 17th school shooting this year? If that is true, what is wrong with the younger generation. When I was a kid, this almost never happened. A student was interviewed and she said, "The state of our country is disgusting - I'm so sorry, Great Mills.". I think it's more the state of the young people in this country.

Which in turn breeds a trend, in a society that loves to follow trends. Like eating tide pods. Highly doubt thousands of kids woke up one day and decided to eat tide pods....yet here we are. Not enough parents putting some fear in these kids. If I ever find my kids posting videos of eating tide pods, I’ll make SERE school look like a a trip to Disneyland and they know it.

Check the sources and statistics. You only get to 17 if you include things like someone committing suicide at a school that had been closed and ADs in which no one was targeted or even hurt. Some (like those publicized recently) even include adults, not students. It's a statistic from "Everytown for Gun Safety" if that gives you an idea of why it is skewed.

I know there has forever been a tendency for older people to think that the younger generations are bringing an end to the good, wholesome days of yesteryear, but theres no need to denigrate the younger generations on the basis of shoddy statistics.

I wonder how many here will say we need to negotiate with the antis to voluntarily give up our glocks so we don't lose all our semi auto handguns.

Attached is a link to CNN's article regarding the number of school shootings. They're including AD's, shootings that happened to take place on a college campus in which none of the involved parties were students and shootings in college dorms which were disputes between students to inflate the numbers. As far as shootings where a gunman enters a school and opens fire on students, I counted 3. To be clear, that's 3 too many, but that doesn't give them to fodder they need to push for gun bans.

It's not so much the kids these days, as it is the grown ups who forbid you to discipline them, and encourage crap like active listening, gender neutrality, and allowing kids to express themselves in any way no matter how bad they try to be.

I kind of figured CNN would skew data to puff up their statistics. I agree with the others, parents aren't parenting these days. Kids act like snowflakes. I remember when Trump won the election, there were a LOT of college students that needed some form of therapy to deal with Hillary losing.

I think all schools need some form of police presence these days.
