Sorry, but there is no link to the Statesman that shows this story.
This is out of the Austin American Statesman print edition today.
This is all quoted from the blurb.

Police: Woman shoots herself at indoor range

A woman was critically wounded after she walked into a shooting range in Southwest Austin at 10:48 a.m. Tuesday and shot herself, police said.

Sgt. Richard Stressing with the APD said the woman, who is in her 30s, did not threaten or injure anyone else. Police said her injuries are critical, and she was taken to University Medical Cener at Brackenridge.

The shooting was at Red's Indoor Range in the 6200 block of U.S. 290 West in the Oak Hill area.

That's the total blurb..

Why is that folks would choose a range to do the deed?
It surely cause a lot of trauma and grief for unrelated people.

my guess is because it is convenient. why spend several hundred dollars and possibly have to deal with a waiting period when you can spend $20 to rent a gun with a few rounds? plus, some people want attention. killing themselves in private isnt likely to get any attention outside of the family/friends, whereas killing yourself in public effects everyone around you in addition. its a sad, sad thing

I drive by there a couple times a week. While I don't shoot there, I hope the range recovers and doesn't receive too much bad press.

Many ranges require you to already own a gun before renting in order to avoid this sort of thing.

Wow, and it was only an attempt. She should have asked for some advice on caliber and bullet type first. It is a shame, but why not go some place where people don't have to clean up afterwards?

Not to add insult to injury, but most people who commit suicide are cowards(at least in some ways) and very selfish.

ps. my best friend growing up killed himself, so I don't bash people like that but it is the truth.
