I was browsing through eBay yesterday and noticed a Lee Perfect Powder Measure up for auction. It was labeled NIB, had about five hours yet to go before expiration, had at least 16 bids already in and the high price offered for it at the time was $31.50.

I checked the new Cabela's 2004 Shooting catalog I received in the mail the same day and saw the Lee Perfect Powder Measure priced at $19.49.

P. T. Barnum said it first and best: "There's a sucker born every minute."

That is sooooo common on ebay that it really makes me laugh. People dont do any research and get screwed. Oh well!!!!!!!!!

used to get soem good deals off ebay but not anymore to many idiots out there who will just bid it up to win

I like the people selling Ruger owners manuals. Don't the people bidding realize all it takes is a call to Ruger and they'll send them one for free? I think most manufactures will do the same.
I could understand if it was a rare obsolete gun, but a GP100, comon!

I did get taken once, bought a reloading manual. Gave less than $5.00 for it including shipping, thought I got a deal.
What I got was one of the freebie pamphlets you can pick up at any reloading supply place.
I was pretty ticked off and was about to leave negative feedback and send a nasty e-mail to the seller when I re-read the item description. What I got was exactly what he described.

It seems like the dies on ebay also go for premium prices often more than new would cost paying the shipping and tax if any. (that is except when I sell something) Go figure

In ebay's early days you could find some fantastic deals. And even today, they are out there, but you have to look much harder.
I remember once I was selling a laptop that had a smashed LCD and wouldn't power on. I was completely honest about its condition in the listing, and I figured I'd be happy to get $50 out of it. Someone paid $435, and never complained about the deal.

There are deals to be had, but they sure don't come often. I bid a lot on e-bay but rarely, rarely win (not that I'd want to when I don't). There are times, of course, when ebay's lack of a 5 or 10 or 15 minute rule makes bidding feel like a real waste of time. I mostly go for the Buy It Now stuff.

Nevertheless, I recently snatched up an RCBS uniflow with BOTH cylinders and drop tubes, plus baffle and stand for $55, and some Lyman carbide .380 dies for $12 so there are deals to be had.

E-bay deals?

I spent much time this week searching out deals
on the e-bay auctions; and found a few, but it takes a
lot of time and knowing the products, prices, etc.

As an example, I was able of pick up a set of .38 Special
Redding reloading dies, complete with a TC sizing
die for $10.50 + s/h. The dies were received, and are in
excellent condiiton. The only thing I can see that they are
in need of is a expander plug; which is really no problem!
And guess what guys, Redding dies have a very good,
lifetime warranty.

Also, I had bid on a NIB unused Lyman #55 powder
measure; but the bid got too high and finally sold for
$38.01, which was more than I was willing to pay.
