I'm not sure why I'm posting this, but maybe I can get some input since this is my first time using my Shooting Chrony Beta Master (I still laugh at that name).

ok, various cartridges. all 150gr .277 shooting through a bolt action Mossberg .270.

Also, I'm new to reloading, and learning something new every day, like for one... I need to start BARELY crimping. My crimps have been a little too much, to where you can see the two lines in the neck of the cartridge using a Lee FCD. (Not to mention destroying brass :banghead:(read below)).

ok, on with the show.
Powder used is various grains of H-4831.

Shot Vel (FPS) Charge - Bullet Type.

1) 2751 Monarch (Factory)
2) 2659 Monarch (Factory)
3) 2736 55.0gr - Boat Tail Soft Point
4) 2731 55.0gr - Boat Tail Soft Point
5) 2594 53.0gr - Flat Base Soft Point
6) 2618 53.0gr - Flat Base Soft Point
7) 2624 53.0gr - Flat Base Soft Point
8) 2604 53.0gr - Flat Base Soft Point
9) 2720 Remington Core-Lokt (Factory)
0) 2632 Remington Core-Lokt (Factory)

This was the first string. Is this inconsistency fairly normal? What factors would be involved? Barrel temp I'm sure should play a big part, but all in all, does this sound decent? I'm checking for chrony accuracy, so if your results are far different, let me know. Any input would be appreciated. The gun really seemed to like the 53.0gr Flat Base Soft Point. I'm thinking about sticking with that charge. What kinda charge do you use? Now for string two... Same powder (h-4831), same 150gr bullets of various brands, possibly all Hornady, I don't remember. I'd have to look, and I'm too lazy to get up.

Shot Vel (FPS) Charge - Bullet Type.

1) 2736 Remington Core-Lokt (Factory)
2) 2771 Remington Core-Lokt (Factory)
3) 2532 51.0gr - Junk*
4) 2491 51.0gr - Junk*
5) 2656 55.0gr - Spitzer
6) 2712 55.0gr - Spitzer
7) 2753 55.0gr - Flat Base Soft Point
8) 2707 55.0gr - Flat Base Soft Point
9) 2582 53.0gr - Round Nose Flat Base Soft Point**
0) 2592 53.0gr - Round Nose Flat Base Soft Point**

*Junk are rounds that I originally loaded, but I had the bullet seat die too far down, and crushed the brass, so I pulled them, and just popped them into another cartridge loaded with 51.0gr as a test. They shot well.
**Round Nose Flat Base Soft Point, my buddy found some, they look like they're from god knows when. They're more dull than Winchester Power Points. I've tried searching for them, and can't seem to find them anywhere. This is what I get from the Hornady website:
2745 - 150g Round Nose Obsolete - 100 - $31.50

Too bad they're obsolete, they'd make an AWESOME hunting round.
Anyway, this was my day. Glad the chrony worked.
Let me know what you think. Thanks.

These can't really be considered inconsistent when you only have two examples of a load for a sample, and a bunch of different loads.
Loads 5-8 are a sample of four, and they show just 30fps difference between them. I wouldn't think there was anything wrong with that.

This was your longest string of identical rounds

5) 2594 53.0gr - Flat Base Soft Point
6) 2618 53.0gr - Flat Base Soft Point
7) 2624 53.0gr - Flat Base Soft Point
8) 2604 53.0gr - Flat Base Soft Point

Or in other words, four shots

This yields this data

avg 2610.0
std dev 13.6
es 30.0

Which is not really bad at all for hunting rounds. Was there a group size?

As to the rest of your data...... Well, there isn't enough data to form any conclusions. Fact is that four shots isn't enough either. Many folks consider ten shots as the minimum statistically valid sample size

And those ten shots have to be with the same bullet, and same powder charge, and same primer, at the same ambient temperature, and seated and crimped identically

ok, I'll keep that in mind for next week, what about as far as the numbers?
Would you get similar results?

We weren't checking for accuracy, haha, I was too worried I was gonna shoot the chrony. All in all I'm not too happy with it, maybe it'll grow on me, it seems the shooting area window is very narrow. Shots say, 7 inches above the unit wouldn't display. it was really sunny today, so that might be the problem. When I moved the chrony FAR out of the way, out of 10 shots, at 100yrds, using the 53.0gr flat base soft points, 2 different groups had 3 holes touching one another. Yeah, I know, it sounds like BS, heck I was shocked myself, but I was there. 2 different lines of green on a shoot N' see. And my buddy tells me "next time could you put a little more powder into them?" I'm thinking, dude are you nuts?!Why change what works?!
