Found your insights into the WW2 Victory models interesting. The one I got from my father after that war has the Parkerized finish and a S/N V71024 which seems low. He was a CPO Radioman on Woodlark Is. in the Pacific and told me that he pitched it into his duffle when at the end of the war the powers that be started collecting and dumping EVERYTHING by the landing craft load (trucks, etc) into the Pacific.
I've fired it with standard .38 special many times over the years and it has always shot ok. For the record it is marked "U.S. NAVY" on the top strap, double staked on the ejector star and the cylinder carries the same set of numbers as the frame with the "V" one cylinder early.
I haven't fired it in at least 10 years, and it sits in a dresser drawer with one empty cylinder under the hammer, just like dad said to do it many years ago.
I remember the NRA American Rifleman doing a piece on the Victory revolvers some years ago, but not when or any other details. Thanks for the fill in on some details, and if any other are appropriate, please post them.
