Another "What would you do?"

S&T isn't the new place for all the news stories about people with guns. S&T is for a study of an incident. Comments about firing people are not on topic here. The OP wanted to know what action should be taken in that situation. If you were sitting in line at the daycare, you wouldn't have been in any position to fire anyone.

Keep your posts on topic for this forum.

In that particular instance I don't think you could take her word that she was a cop. Had I a safe shot I'd take it.

Once it became clear that the ol' girl was one of the Good Ol' Boys I'd have done everything I could to doccument the incident prefferably W/ video ( there's my tactic) My strategy at that point would be to get the video into the hands of of CNN or FOX (prefferably both) and let them bring it to the court of public opinion.

What else can you do when the how system from the govenor down is corrupt?

What would probably impact my strategy more than anything is the position of the person in the car with the firearm in relation to the center and any kids that might be around.
This would be a hard position to be in, given the environment.
But, I'd be hard pressed to sit on my hands, cops or not.

Like Treo, I'd look for a clear shot. But, it seems like the man who spoke calmly to them defused the situation.

its a tough call. an incoherent and enraged person waving a gun around is not someone you want to mess with if you can avoid it.

Neither is S&T an alternative location for Comedy Central. We discuss serious topics here, and will maintain proper decorum while doing so. If you noticed your post to this or any other S&T thread has disappeared, that might well be construed as an indication your attitude needs adjustment before participating further...

Were I in the school, I'd be on the phone to 911 and I'd stay put behind cover. Were I in a car and my KIDS were in that school, likewise, but my drive to get to my kids and ensure their safety would make it VERY hard to make good choices.

Thank God for the guy who calmed her down. He was braver than I'd be.

That whole scenario is like a bad dream. With all the kids around I don't know how I would have reacted.

My "gut reaction" is that I would draw and seek cover ; further actions would depend on how the scenario unfolded and my proximity.

How much credence to you put into someone yelling "I'm a cop" when they, at least seemingly, appear to be out of control and how does that impact your course of action?
