With the Iraq invasion coming up- We're sure to see a rise with anti's- So for the greater benefit of our High Road community, I shall impersonate an anti and post something so you guys will be able to gather and provide a decent answer. Here is my first try- I assure you they will improve with time.
==============================================
The biggest problem with pro-gunners happens to be the fact that they fail to understand the whole purpose of guns. Guns were designed to kill people. Guns have been used to kill people many times before. If all guns were to be banned or if ballistic fingerprinting were enabled, crime would certainly see a decrease in the next few years. Guns are a cowardly method- What happened to honing your skills with a sword? Guns kill people- They should be banned-

Sincerely-
Dumbface.

The 2nd Amendment doesn't say anything about "why" guns are made, only that I have a right to own them. :)

On a similar note, if we were to ban the Internet, we would see a dramatic decrease in the number of child porn crimes being commited.

<cough>

Actually, I'm pretty formidable with anything with an edge to it (as well)...sword, Bowie, axe, shovel...

...and I ain't no coward. Wrong me, insult my kith and kin, cross over my threshold with the intent of evil...anyone who wants to think I am, I'll meet them outside.

Regards,
Rabbit.

My response:

Yes, guns were designed to kill. At least they were designed to making killing easier for us humans. But the funny thing is, a gun is not required to be used to kill someone or some thing. Heck, a person is not even required to use a gun if he owns one.

Cars were designed to transport people and packages. But a car owner is not required to use his car in that manner. Some people actually own cars that just sit in the garage. Some people actually own cars for the purpose of racing; oh the horror!

So it comes down to this: If I choose to use my guns in a legal way then all the sheople can go pound sand for all I care.

Ok, Yohan (a.k.a. Dumbface), gimme another one. I need the practice.

same here, at close range I'd be more comfortable with a sword in my hand than a firearm, consequently there's a gladius not far from my mossberg under the bed and a rapier on the wall in my office (although it's definately not a "wall hanger").

I don't understand the mentality of some antis that think it's ok to defend yourself with a blade but you're just not a real man if you use a gun. it's about survival, you use the tools that are available. I'd rather defend my family with a gun and be thought a coward than actually be one by not defending them with best tool for the job.

Big_R; a similar respone I use quite a bit is "If you want to play with me don't bring checkers to the chessboard"

My right to own guns is...

stated in the Bill of Rights. On the other hand, owning a car is not and if cars were banned we would save 50,000 lives a year and countless injuries. Killing someone doesn't take much and dying by a sword or ax is an ugly way to go...chris3

WELL ORGANIZED militia! Are you a member of a militia?

Are cars required to kill people? Guns were primarily designed with the intent of killing in mind

Legal? You mean a legal way to kill someone? Guns KILL things- Even papers- it's just a waste of good lead and metal which could be used for other things

Yeah ... like swords which are so much more civilized because it's better to chop a man to bits with a chunk of sharpened steel than it is to drop an attacker with a few well-placed shots.

By the bye, what purpose (other than murderkilldeath) do swords serve? Seems like swords should be banned first. No one even takes swords hunting.

Nope. Nor do I have to be. There is no requirement for me to be a milita member or anything else to own the weapon of my choice.

Guns were primarily designed with the intent of killing in mind
This is not an argument for or against gun ownership. I agree that guns are designed primarily to kill. That is why I own them, so that I can kill those people who offer me violence or who try to take my property.

No, of course not. But my point is that the user of the object determines how it will be used, not the designer/inventor. A gun is a machine. A car is a machine. Neither machine will do anything without direct input from a user. We users have the ability, and more importantly the responsibility, to make sure we use the machines properly.

Yes, I mean a legal way to kill someone, if I have to. Guns don't kill anything. They are machines that must be run by a user. See above.

Paper is in inanimate object, it can not be killed.

I think unused appliances, cars, old builings, art work, lamp posts, roads, vacations homes, and knick-knacks are a waste of good material which could be used for other things.

One tactic I've had that has worked wonders, at least to the extent of driving the anti-s away in a manner in which they wont come back is to start giving them a lecture on improvised weapons construction. I discuss building a potato cannon varient which will launch weighted frozen grapejuice cans a considerable distance with decent (well, okay kinda impressive to people who don't know any better) velocity.

I then go on to try to give them a couple examples from stuff they carry on them everyday...sure glad felt tips went out of style!;)

this often precludes my having to do the 'from my cold dead hands' speach since most anti-s freak out and decide they don't want to talk to me anymore.

Works for me, anyway,:D

But the internet was not invented to kill people! Can't you get that through your head? You're so close-minded.

:neener:

In order to spot any more future "anti" simulations, just look for "//" and "Dumbface" as well as the apparent absence of logic.
