I just mounted my new Nightforce Scope with the Eratac 20 moa mount on my Barret M82A1 50 bmg.
The scope is a Nightforce nx8 4-32 x 50 with a zero stop.
The issue I am having is at 250 yards…. With the elevation turret turned DOWN all the way I am shooting about 30 inches high. I am at lost of what to do as I cannot turn the elevation turret down anymore as it’s at the factory’s max specifications.
I loosely understand the purpose of the zero stop to allow for a quick adjustment back to a true zero. My question is if I have the elevation turret down all the way and THEN set the zero stop there…. Will that allow me to turn the elevation turret down even more than what’s on the factory setting now?
I just wanted some clarification before messing with the turrets and the zero stop.
I am just surprised that with a 20 moa mount that I am shooting 30 inches above the crosshairs at its lowest setting elevation wise.

I'm not certain, but it sounds like you are conflating the zero-stop, and the lowest elevation the scope will dial. They are nowhere near each other. 'Zero' is nowhere near 'lowest elevation setting'.

You're trying to dial for extremely close range (for a 20MOA rail), so if you're stopping at wherever the factory left the zero stop, it's no wonder that's not low enough.

After you get setup, you can set the zero-stop to whatever you consider your reference range, say 500yards for that cartridge.

What will be your working range(s)? If you will regularly shoot at such close range, you might need a flat rail.

ETA Unless the zero stop is off the bottom of the actual adjustment range. Loosen it up and see if the elevation will adjust lower.
