I have a couple of Colt SAA clones in .45 long colt. I find myself wanting a levergun in matching caliber. I can get a Puma in SS for $399 + tax while a matching Marlin 1894 is almost $200 more. Does anyone have any practical experience with the Pumas? This will be for plinking and maybe, down the road Cowboy Action Shooting.

I've had one for 2 weeks now. Seems to work fine, but the damn sights are off a fair amount. I'm gonna run mine back to the shop, and have the gunsmith there adjust it a tad.

I've got the 20" stainless in same caliber

Nothing wrong with this rifle. Lightweight, Fun to shoot, pretty accurate too. If you are so inclined they are really strong actions and will flirt with factory .45/70 type performance.

A lot of people find the need to go through them and smooth things out to get them to cycle smoothly. There are a few tutorials out there if you google the topic.
There is a guy in Texas named Steve Young that specializes in working on them and is highly regarded.
