I'm thinking of buying a rifle through their web site and having it sent here to PA. Any good or bad experiences with them? Thanks.

I haven't bought anything from them, but I did visit the store a few months ago when I was in Houston. Wow! I couldn't even calculate how much I would have spent if I had an unlimited budget! I could have filled the bed and the cab of my F-350. My wife even liked the place.

Anyway, the guys behind the counter that I spoke to were all friendly and helpful. Several of the guns I looked at were ones I had seen on line. They were in just as good of condition or better in person than what I had seen on line. I hope that helps.

I just bought a Colt GCNM last week from them. Great service. They stopped the auction they had and sold it to me for the asking price since they had no bids on it.
Oh, no surcharge for CC use. Same price CC or MO.

They have a real fun store and very nice guns, the mark up is pretty high on run of the mill guns and ammo though.

Collector's Firearms

Where are they located? Springmom and I have decided to build up our collection of military / historic weapons and would love to check them out.

Feel free to reply here or by PM.

Thanks.

Fondren and Richmond on the SE corner of the intersection, basically SW Houston.

They are at Fondern and Hilcroft. There are some guys there that drive me nuts. If you can get one of the sales people who doesn't have to get into a KPS* contest with you, you should get ok service. The guns are marked up pretty high, but they do have a pretty nice selection.

Never bought anything online from them but I have purchased one long arm from them. But because of a couple of bad experiences there with a couple of young KPS'ers and the higher prices, I find it hard to buy firearms there anymore. I still go there to look at guns because they do have a HUGE selection.

I suppose if I keep going back, I'll probably find a reason to buy from them again. D@MN THEIR NICE SELECTION!!!!

Store is...huge. I used to work a door or two down from their shop, so I'd swing by and hang out from time to time. Staff was always polite and helpful, and no one seemed to mind my constant fondling of guns and nonexistant buying of guns...

My only complaint would be that their prices seem a bit high. I might be completely off base with this one, but everything seems a bit higher than it would be elsewhere...

As Rich indicated, the store is on the corner of Richmond and Fondren. Huge inventory. High prices. Most of the sales people are pretty decent. If you're looking for a gun, chances are they have it.

When you're browsing in the store, keep in mind that any gun with the price written in black is a used gun. If the tag has the price written in red ink, it's a new gun.

I bought a Commander from them. The price wasn't a 'bargan' for either the buyer or seller. But, as opposed to 'net or auction sales, I had visual inspection, the clerk field stripped the Commander so I could see the lugs and slots as well as the feed ramp. I also had a 30 day return ( the clerk wrote that on my bill of sale) if the firearm failed to function properly. It was worth a premium price.

Lots of information on their web site.

What is lacking on their web site is adequate mention of their books. If I could, I'd take a sack lunch and a thermos of coffee and read 'till I was evicted.

salty.

What everyone else said, they are reputable and have a huge selection. Occassionally a decent price on a used firearm but generally a place to go see everything, then buy it somewhere else. Honestly, I would love to give them my business, but just can't pay the prices.

I agree with BrowningGuy, shop there and buy elsewhere.

I recently picked up a Lusa A2 9mm carbine from them and paid about what it was worth retail with a small mark up. I was seriously looking at buying a JLD Enterprises PTR-91 from them but held off. Turns out their mark up is considerably higher than everyone else. Went through a friend with a FFL and saved close to $300 on the PTR-91.

Yes, they are friendly and knowledgeable, but I have heard too many bad things to give them all my business.

They are the epitome of a man's 'toy store' though. :D

Hmm, thing is, they have a model in a caliber that isn't very common and they have it on sale. $1200 for Sako 75 Grey Wolf. This seems to be a competitive price from my research.

You hit the nail on the head. They have stuff that is hard to find elsewhere. Not impossible... but hard.

I will say I've NEVER seen an inoperable weapon there that was not marked as such. And I've seen a few there that I would have thought were in shooting condition that were clearly marked "does not fire" or "not operable".

Just my opinion, but you probably won't get junk from them. You’ll pay for it... but it won't be junk. I can't fault the guns even though I can pitch a fit about the prices and a few of the people.

But I'm not an expert on the mechanics so take it for what it's worth.

Overall good experiences. I've bought a couple of guns from there, one of which I saw online and then went to the store and requested that they close the auction.

Description and pics were accurate and the gun, a used Kahr P9, was priced MORE than fairly. I feel that I got a bargain.

Another gun, more of a collector's piece, bought there was fine, too. Overpriced but, when the staff member with whom I spoke realized that I knew what the fair market value was, the price was reduced to what I consider a fair price.

Most guns there are overpriced but, with the latter experience, I think that the prices aren't necessarily firm. Of course, no one in the gun business wants someone trying too hard to beat them down on price so TOO much haggling would probably not be wise.

I will say that I love looking at their used handgun selection. It's always changing and most of the prices are pretty decent.

Overall a good store but one that I don't visit that often since I'm up in Spring.

I cannot complain about the price on the Colt GCNM. It was $825 for a well taken care of, experienced handgun. Around here that would bring between $850 to $900.

They sell on GunBroker, I'v purchased a few C&R handguns from them without problem. Fast shipment to.

they have more than a few jerks behind the counter

They are not going to rip you off.

Sometimes they have a good deal on something.

I will never shop there again, Ive had several bad expierences with them. I know lots of people like it there but its always a roll of the dice unless they smell money on you. Im younger (23) than many on this board and Ive gone to them with money to spend several times only to be treated like crap and have what should have been a fun expirence turned into a really crappy one. That said-

They wont steal from you.
They wont lie to you any more than anyone else.
If they have what you want for a good price and they say its in good condition go for it.

I just went there today......WAY to high . However , a really impressive store .
