Tom Clancy:
Without Remorse, then Rainbow Six...

If you are easily offended, skip Without Remorse...

Good Reading...

I second the Hunter suggestion. Good books, even if some of them lean a bit towards hero-worship. I liked Clancy's earlier work, but his latest books seem to be a little far-fetched. Without Remorse was my favorite, along with Red Storm Rising.

Tom Clancy Rainbow Six?

Isnt that a Pc game. I played it some years ago.
Adventure with Guns. Try any book from
Emilio Salgari

May I suggest one that I wrote myself? It's completely about gun rights and the 2nd amd.

I'm currently reading 1632 by Eric Flint and I'm enjoying it so far. This novel is more of a sci-fi read with a lot of firearms included in the story. You'll definitely be entertained while reading...no boring lull chapters so far.

Just about everything from Stephen Hunter

+100

He has a "series" of books, somewhat interrelated, but you can read them individually, without losing anything. I would start with "Time to Hunt" (?...I've kinda forgotten the title), even thought it relies most on some of the others. I've read all of his books twice, some 3 times and I RARELY do that, unless they are really an exceptionally good book.

You have GOT to read Unintended Consequences.

It is the definitive novel about the gun culture.

Enemies Foreign & Domestic (and it's sequel, Domestic Enemies, which was just released) is also really entertaining.

Molon Labe by Boston T. Party is great too, and is a visionary call to action.

Richard Marcinko/Steven Hunter

Richard Marcinko wrote a series of novels(with John Weisman) that are very good. Marcinko is a retired US Navy SEAL who started the counter-terrorism SEAL unit; SEAL team 6. He also ran a top secret unit called RED CELL that tested DoD/US Navy security. Look for Richard Marcinko's latest novel: Holy Terror soon. His non fiction books; Rogue Warrior, Red Cell are a great read too, ;) .

I read a novel by an author named Steven Hunter, I can't recall the title but the plot was fast paced and the story was very interesting. It was about a Marine/SE Asia combat vet who was an expert sniper. The guy gets sucked into a plot to kill someone then the sniper goes on the run. Hunter goes into detail about the weapons/tactics and he's right on track unlike some writers who list little or no information about firearms, holsters, ammo, etc.

Check them out!

PS: TV exec/writer Steven J Cannell(who made Hunter/The A Team/Renegade) is a good author too. His novels(mainly the Shane Scully books) are action packed and have many firefights/weapons use.

Enjoy!

Domestic Enemies: The Reconquista by Matthew Bracken

+1 on Unintended Consequences.

Enemies Foreign and Domestic is available for $12 off fredsm14stocks.com.

"Term Limits" by Vince Flynn is the first in a series of 8 or so novels. I've read 6 of them since 4th of July weekend... and I haven't read a book since college!

Stephen Hunter is mandatory reading.

Another vote for Stephen Hunter's books. Good gun details and very engaging stories. I have a two year old son, so reading books takes a bit longer than it used to around my house, but I was able to fly through the Hunter books with no probles. :D

I would recommend starting with Point of Impact, which is the first of the Bob Lee Swagger series, which includes Black Light and Time to Hunt in that order. His other books are great as well, but this series is a good place to start.

Edited: Forgot to mention Hunter is a Pulitzer Prize winning movie critic, so the man can write!

"The Freeman" by Jerry & Sharon Ahern (yes, that Jerry Ahern) is excellent.

"Lullaby Town" by Robert Crais probably has the most descriptions/mentions of guns of any of his Elvis Cole novels.

RustySchakelford: The title of the Stephen Hunter book you're referring to is "Point of Impact". I think it, "Time to Hunt" and "Black Light" (all by Hunter) are three of the best books I have ever read and I've read them several times each.

Badbunny: I agree with you-Clancy's earlier works are terrific, but he's phoned the last couple of books in.

Good books

Some of the fairly interesting authors of action novels have no clue! Silenced revolvers, revolvers with safties (S&W .357) etc. Someone needs to volunteer to edit their stuff and repair their errors and the worst of the bunch is Clive Cussler.
