Father Knows Best,
I did not mean to imply I have ceased buying used firearms. I will continue to buy them but, probably not when meant as a gift unless I first take it apart and determine it to be in perfect working order. I know there are bargains to be had on used guns sometimes, then again I know little about O/Us to be able to make a determination as to which would be a bargain or a rag (rottenly aged gun) among used ones at this point. Pistols, many semi auto, lever, and bolt rifles - I know enough about to chance it.
This time I am buying the O/U basically as a gift, that is when I finally save enough money. I just ptefer it to be new since it is for a young shooter who may not (err: certainly does not) yet appreciate that some of the finer things in life have aged well. Also since money is an object, I kind of like the fact that most new guns, especially any I would buy, come with a warranty or at least with a reputable company to back them up.
Of course, if I go to an estate sale, and find a nice new look Purdy (spelling?) for, let's say $250, I think I would be tempted to buy it. LOL
Best regards,
Glenn B
P.S. By the way, I always loved your show. My guess is you too are a somewhat old timer with that monicker (or at least the son or daughter of someone who knows that show)!
