Hello all. I'll be visiting Oahu in late October and was wondering if anyone can recomend a good range/shop to visit if I get the urge to squeeze off a few rounds. I won't be bringing a gun with me so it will have to have rentals.

Dunno if it's any good, but there'a a range that isn't far from Hanama (sp) Bay. A lot of Japanese tourist go to it.

I saw alot of indoor ranges in Honolulu around the Waikaki area last Nov. Looked like they were geared to Japanese tourists. I also saw a sign to an outdoor range on Maui, but didn''t check it out. I didn't take any toys with me.

The Koko Head Shooting Complex is Oahu's only public range.

I'm only a three minute drive from the range. It is a beautiful range.

The website says that you have to provide your own target frame for the rifle range, but that is incorrect. Personal target frames are only required for the pistol range. Be sure to bring a 10/22 with you to shoot at the silhouette range.

When I was in Hawaii for my wedding/honeymoon I saw a pictograph on the wall at a visitor center of a man with a rifle. The pictograph dates to the time of the first European contact. I bought a blank "Red Dirt Shirt" T-shirt and I'm going to have that pictograph put on it with "Haole Gun Club" above it and "Established 18??" under it (the date will be the date of Cook's first contact, which I need to double check).

I'll wear it on my next trip to the Island, but there are definately certain neighborhoods on Oahu and Kaui where I WON'T have it on. They are places tourists shouldn't go anyway and if I'm the company of a local (like last time), I'll wear a different shirt.

I've been to the islands before, so I know where and where not to go as a tourist. I can't bring my own guns, though, because I'll be staying with my sis and her family. She's totally anti firearms, and wouldn't want me to have one around her three little boys (5, 2, and 13 months).
