Any gunsmiths that will work on Taurus?

Since my idea of a K frame in .45 Colt is out, I'm now looking at the Taurus line of 5-shot .45s. Don't really care for them the way they come from the factory, especially the porting. Are there any smithes out there that will work on the Tauri?

Most good revolver smiths should. I had a custom front sight dovetailed onto a M85. Guy out of Florida, the first one I found in the back of a Guns and Ammo. Don't have the address, sorry.

I'm sure companies like Magnaport will work on them. Can't recall any others off the top of my head.

Keep checking and bless you if you find 1 cause I couldn't. I won't up selling my Taurus anyway (and will never buy another) but I couldn't find a smith that was willing to touch one. They are too cheap is usually the response I get.

a real gunsmith will, as its a gun and its their job to work on guns.

Ive kinda noticed that alot of the gunsmiths and companies that come out and state that a taurus product is to inferior to work on, tend to be elitists who think that any handgun priced under 1200 msrp is "low end budget gun for the poor folk who dont really deserve a gun"

Most all regular pistol smiths will do what you need to have done on the Taurus guns. (if not - they are not worth going to)

The idea of smiths not working on Taurus guns comes from almost a single source written on the matter and based on an elite custom smith who specializes in action work on S&W guns primarily. It is true that of those type of smiths who have a strong enough reputation that they can charge high prices for their work, it is best to stick with the S&W gun.

The reason is simply because that high price work has a chance of holding its value better if done on a S&W . It is not because they can't make a Taurus run good or as nice as a S&W. It is that it takes a little more work to do so, and the resale of that work isn't there because of the brand recognition factor. That's my take on the deal anyway !

From a gunsmiths perspective, Taurus is a pain in the butt brand to work on. It is not that they cannot work and be good little guns, however, if anything breaks or wears out, it is a stone cold B*tch to get parts from Taurus. I ordered a trigger rebound last year and still haven't got it.
The internals of a Smith are easier and lend themselves more towards customization. They just do. Smith is a better company to deal with.
I do work on Taurus. I just don't like dealing with their customer service. And the quality of the starting product is just not there.
