I saw on the local news tonight that the 2005 Maryland General Assembly had its last day for passing laws until next year.

The news anchor mentioned a few non-gun related laws but I never heard of what happened to the new AWB law the Democrats wanted. The criteria used in 2005 for determining what constitutes an "assault weapon" is WAY TOO BROAD by definition. It will end up causing weapons not normally thought of or associated with AW's to be just that.(Any hunters reading this?)

Check out HB948 and SB116 located at: www.mcrkba.org/GunBills.html

This is part of the website for "Maryland Citizens for The Right To Keep And Bear Arms".

stick a fork in them

they're all dead (both good and bad bills).

Mainly due to Quinter's meltdown/temper tantrum threat of trying to amend his AWB onto ANY gun related bill, Vallario (Chair of the House cmte that hears gun bills) refused to let any gun-related bill come up for a vote. Thus, they all died in committee - the "AWB" and the fair-issue bill included. . .

K-Romulus,

Its a shame that we still don't have concealed carry. That would have been nice!

Do you have a link about Quinters temper tantrum?

Thanks,

No links to his little tantrum, but many of us were at the hearings when it happened during testimony.

The best way to describe Chairman Vallario's dealing with Quinter is "Bitchslapped" (with due apologies to Art's Grammaw).

There's a theory running around that nobody will introduce the AWB next year since the same outcome is virtually guarunteed, and guns are a bad topic during an election year.
