I found an old rifle in my garage. My dad must have forgot about it for all these years and just left it behind the fridge to rust.

It's a .22LR self-loader, JC Higgin Model 30; Sears Roebuck and Co. with (what I'm guessing) is a walnut gripping and stock

Its in decent condition, save for rust on the barrel, finish, etc.

any special info on it? I asked someone not too long ago, but he never got back to me.

thanks

I just picked up a model 30 myself and it's a nice little rifle. Hope yours isn't too far gone.

all it needs is a good cleaning and a bit of filing and refinishing on the barrel's surface

also, the link did not work. Wikipedia has not given any info, either.

hm, I didnt see anything on the 583.70-types

the top one is the exact thing I (er, my dad) has.

I may see if I can take it off his hands (since he doesn't like guns all too much) and clean it up and have a nice plinker/range shooting gun while I still keep shopping for an AK
