Any Info on "White" Brand Knives - Pictures Added

My father has an old knife that is simply marked "White" on the blade near the handle (ricasso?) It is a "survival" type knife and appears to be pretty darn well made. Can't seem to find anything on the internet. I will try to get him to get me a picture of it for everyone's reference. The handle is cord wrapped with a small diameter cord.

He inherited this knife and we know basically nothing about it.

There was a custom knife-maker named Gene E. White listed in the 3rd. annual Knives '83 book by Ken Warner.

Address was Yucca Vally, CA, and he specialized in "Simple guard-less working knives" of bowie, boot, and fighter design.

Not saying it is one of his, just saying.

Thanks for the info so far guys. I will try to get him to take some pictures or hand the knife over for a while so I can take them.

I don't think that is a factory knife (or if it is it's one very well done factory knife). Looking at the interface of the guard and blade it looks like silver solder was used and they did a good job. Factories do not go to that sort of trouble.

HSO, It does appear to be silver soldered. Good eyes. I had hoped that would show better than it did, but the lighting didn't want to cooperate.

Should we do anything to the knife in terms of cleaning the brass? Beyond that, I don't think I would touch the blade, unless you guys have any tips.

Fergy Try Eddie White. He is long time tactical maker. It is something he would make. It is styled after Jimmy Lile's Rambo's first blood Knife.

Just a quick update.

Looks like we may have found the knife maker that made this. It appears to be Robert White. We were able to speak to him on the phone earlier today and he said it sure sounds like one of his. We are emailing him the pictures and he said he would look them over and let us know for sure.

Said he made them, in addition to his other offerings, during the Rambo craze and would sell and handful at every show back then. He has not made a knife in a few years but is still an active gun smith. His son is a part time knife maker.

After a gentleman on bladefourms guided us in his direction, we found mention of Mr. White in some old knife publications.

Thanks for you input guys.
