I have the last gen of it. The 9707 I believe. I have both Mec-Gar and Pro-Mags. Both of them work ok after break-in. I did have to send it back once for a wear mark where the thumb safety was rubbing the frame. They polished the feed ramp while it was there. No problems since. Probably over 2500 rounds since.

Brazilian made copy of the Para Ordinance P14 pistol.
Parkarized finish, standard dovetail rear and staked post front sights.
Para mags work just fine in the pistol.
Pistol is a bit plainer and rougher than a Para but a decent value if you don't plan on adding tritium sights or other such stuff.
Parts are fit the same and interchangable with most Para parts.

Another clone Para you may consider looking for is the Dan Wesson High Capacity 1911.
It features dovetail sights front and rear, better fit and finish, and a reverse plug guide rod.
Same fit with magazines and parts.
About $125.00 more money. HTH

Does that mean the Springfield version cannot be upgraded to night sights or is it just that it is not economical to do so? Also, is the Springfield really made in Brazil?

I don't have one, but the Springfield Armory "GI" style Hi-Caps I've seen were really, really nice. The only weak spot is the small GI sights, and there are a few nice options for replacing those. Apparently, no one is yet making grips for the Springfield pistols(Para grips don't fit), but surely that will catch up. What you'll get is high quality Imbel steel, with a lifetime warranty. If you decide you want some custom work done, like aftermarket sights, for instance, you could send your pistol to Springfield Armory Custom Shop for the work, and still retain your warranty. It's nice to have a quality custom pistol with a lifetime warranty.
