This is a RRA 16" upper on an RRA lower that was finished with the Brownells Teflon Moly Oven Cure finish. The barrel, and Yankee Hill Machine quad-rail were both coated.

I won't say that I'm satisfied as it does not seem to be a very scratch-resistant finish, however.

Thanks very much for those candid reviews guys. I am reconsidering this as an option. I do not want this gun to look like a hack-job, especially since it will get used quite a bit.
Thanks again,
Mike

You would be better off to use KG Gunkote or Duracoat. Remember the finish is only as good as the metal you put it on . The key is in the prep work.:)

Thanks again.
Where can I see/obtain these coatings that you call Aluma-Hyde II, KG Gunkote and Duracoat?
Mike

I have used the Brownells Teflon on AR barrels and receivers and had no problems with it. You need to make sure the surface is roughed up well before applying it, (snadblaster with medium grit works best). Wipe the part with a cleaner, I used acitone. Either heat up the part or the can before applying. After appying let it sit for about 30 minutes till it stops being tacky then stick it in the over, if you can't stick it in the oven keep it in a dry place for about a week-10 days. Should all be set to go.
