Any point in holding on to fired 209 primers?

I know that it's theoretically possible to re-form and re-use rifle and pistol primers, knock out the anvil, bang out the firing pin dent, reprime the cup and reinsert the anvil (once again, in theory), but 209 primers look more difficult to disassemble and re-use

I don't plan to do any re-using of any primers, I was just curious if fired 209's have any useful parts or components in them?

I know that .22 brass can be used to swage bullet jackets, or be sold back to a scrap metal dealer, any use for fired 209's, or just bin them?

Back before my reloading equipment got taken by a natural disaster. I would save them an shoot them in a wrist rocket slingshot. They don't shoot straight, but if you place them in the pouch the same way every time, you can figure out the kentucky-windage to get you close. And they make the neatest buzzing sound too. Other than that, chunk 'em.

They're brass.
Most are not all brass.
The outer cup is usually steel, while the primer cup itself may be brass.

Check some with a magnet and see.

At any rate, I can't think of a single good reason to save fired primers other then for recycling the metal scrap.

I have used them in the old cloth shot bags to make "sand" bags for bench rest use. Those bags are heavy enough, without being TOO heavy to hold a rifle still. They also can be used as door stops. Otherwise, a lot of places won't take them as scrap because of the mixed metal content

I wouldn't even do that.

But if I was into metal sculpture or something, I might melt them down and cast them into something.

I've done like 1 oz. Fired 209s in old shot bags make great "Sandbags" for bench work.
