Any real difference in concealibility of different polyguns?

As far as modern double stack autos go is there any real difference in concealibility among them?

Considerations
FNP-9
Glock 19
Walther P99

Former Considerations
Beretta Px4 (bit on the large side)
Springfield XD (not sure if I can get used to the grip safety)
HK P2000 (too expensive and I didn't care for my last HK)
S&W M&P Compact (teething issues???)

Each of these compact/fullsized polymer autoloaders seems about the same size and weight to me. Dose anyone with experience carrying different guns that appear the same size have any input about actual differences while carrying?

These are all supposedly excellent guns. I tried to choose based upon ergos and as I am still a relatively new shooter I don't have a whole lot of preferences ingrained into me. Just about any gun I hold in my hand for a few minutes at the shop starts to feel just fine to me. I guess I just adjust to them. I tried the "hold-the-gun-up-without-looking-and-see-if-the-sights-line-up" trick someone told me about. It is supposed to check if the gun points naturally for a give person. They all line up the second time I try.

As far as triggers go, once again I can't really tell the difference between a good trigger and an ok one. The P22 trigger is awful. Everything else feels good to me.

Basically I am starting to think I might be able to adapt to whatever I buy and since I am having a hard time deciding on which gun to buy, typical, I figured maybe I would try to see if concealibility is a factor.

Just a very confused guy looking for a new poly double stack carry gun and looking for a bit of direction.

I will mention that I have a very nice new Beltman gunbelt and that I plan to order a Bladetech holster to hold me over until the Mitch Rosen holster I order comes in.

I don't see a lot of difference in the ones I have. Belt/holster have more to do with it than gun size.

Of the ones on your list, I've got a Glock 19, and an XD-9 duty. I would have thought the 19 was smaller, but holding them up together they're about the same size.

Of the ones on your list, I have specifcally carried both the PX4 and the Glock 19. The Glock 19 is definitely the smaller and easier to carry gun in my opinion. Not to say that the PX4 can't be carried, it just requires slightly more work to do so... it's more in line with the Glock 17 in dimensions.

I haven't carried the XD, but I can say that it too is bigger than the Glock 19 in it's standard Service Model guise. Most notable to me seems to be the extra grip length.

As for the others on the list, I can't speak for there qualities at all. Sorry.

Thats part of what confuses me, the Glock 19 always seems smaller and lighter but when I ask the guy at the counter to let me hold them next to each other the differences seem negligible. It just seems to me that the Glock 19 will conceal better than the others listed but I don't understand if its psychological or actual.

About the same size

The three you mentioned - P99, G19 and FNP9, are all very similar in size and weight (and price). So it would come down to your preference in ergonomics as to which you prefer, I think.

If you want a smaller poly 9mm you should go to the single stack guns with barrel length of 3.5 inches or less, such as the new Walther PPS and the Kahr P9. These 2 are clearly smaller than the double stacks you are looking at. Of course you won't have the magazine capacity, but they will conceal more easily and you can carry a spare magazine.

Try the previous Steyr M and S series. The grip is smaller. They are accurate enough and with a good trigger. Be sure to test for reliability.

My PT145 45 ACP Double Stack 10rnd mag is very compact and conceals quite well. The ergonomics and reliability have been excelent. Specs: Length: 6-1/8" Width: 1.25" Height: 5.125" A Glock 19 Specs: Length: 6.85" Width: 1.18" Height: 5.00" Both will conceal just the same.

Thanks for all your help guys, I went out and finally bought a Glock 19 today.

After much talking and asking questions my friend(an anti but I'm working on it) helped me realize that I really felt best about the Glock but was trying to find another good pistol to get instead. Thats why I couldn't settle on anything. Well I got my G19 and damn it I am happy.
