I know that folks here go hot and cold on Taurus in general, but I've got to say that my PT22 has just been fantastic. Mine is an early one, ordered in advance of, but picked up post the original recall; when it comes to small autos and fine-tuning, Taurus was the original ruger....

Every time I take this thing out, I am reminded of what a good little plinker it is. I must have several thousand rounds through it over the years, and it's still going strong. Not only that, but I've never had a misfire–although I only shoot "name" brand ammo through it; .22 is cheap enough to only do the good stuff, IMHO.

Thus far, this thing has been revolver-like in its reliability. As well, with its tip-up barrel, low recoil, cheap feeding and "cute" factor, I've used it to introduce a number of newbies to shooting over the years.

Just wondering if anyone else here owns and shoots one of these mouse guns a lot.

I picked one up for the misses. She does not like that is "spits" brass pieces and then the brass gets hung up in her brass catchers. A fun gun but that is about it. While I like little autos, sadly her Taurus is just not one of them. I will say that it will shoot anything in LR though.

Almost bought one at a gun show for $100, only had $75 left in my pocket and the guy wouldn't go down that far.

One of these days I'll probably pick up one up or maybe I'll spring for the beretta model.

Mine is a junker Miss fires one after another (CCI ammo) By 30 rounds the cheap plastic grips broke Sent back they fixed the problems I guess 7 weeks again out of box fired some miss fires again and grips broke a 2nd time This is my 3 rd Taurus and 2 have been junk PT -92 works I won't buy anything else from them. When son returns from over seas he can have the 92 I'll keep my 1911's

I bought one for my missus to get her used to handguns. Hers failed to feed correctly a lot....the bullet tip would get jammed right above the barrel. I'd have to tap the round and then it would chamber. I think it just needs breaking in because the slide is really tight.

It is a cute little pistol and I think that's what makes it attractive to my wife. Hers has the pink/pearled handgrips and is black. If I shoot it, I take off the pink grips and put on some black wraparound ones.

Yep, I have one. My PT-22 was a Christmas gift from my wife a couple years back. It has lovely wood grips and is a fair shooter, once I got used to the looooog double-action trigger. It does cycle CCI Mini-Mags quite reliably, but balks on a lot of other brands. Even after a couple thousand rounds through it.
I must confess that my Beretta 21A in .22LR gets far more range time than my PT-22. The Beretta has a much better parts fit, a smoother action, and cycles pretty much anything I put into the magazine. It also has a DA/SA trigger function, with the DA portion being much smoother and lighter than the one on the PT-22. Overall, the Taurus is a much rougher gun than the Beretta it was copied from.
I collect pocket pistols, so I am glad my wife gave me the Taurus. It is fun to play with. Would I buy another? Probably not. Instead I would probably opt for a clean used Beretta 21A at the same price as a new Taurus PT-22.

I just bought one for the Mrs. and it is as reliable and accurate as her Walther P22 but the trigger pull is 8lbs and too much for her. Wood grips, shoots most ammo after 200 rnds. DO NOT use Hyper Velocity it will smash the plastic bumper, nice little CCW I like the pop up barrel loader. I should have bought another Kel-Tec .380 for her. Lighter, smaller, better trigger pull, better round.

Question: The magazine is tight and I have had to sand it as well as the inside the grip, did anyone else have a magazine that they have to fight with to insert and remove?
