Anybody got a hammer for a GP100 to spare?

Anyone have a hammer for GP100 they would be willing to part with? I have a 4' GP100 on layaway that was converted to DAO for police use, but want to get a regular hammer. Ruger will change it out but then will keep the present hammer. Want to have both in case I prefer the DAO.

Send it to Ruger without the DAO hammer installed with a note that says: "I bought this gun used, but it is not working right for some reason."

I doubt they'll ask you any questions and you should have it back with a new hammer pretty quickly.

The only problem with this approach is that there's a slight possibility that they'll return it with a new DAO hammer. If they do, send it back with one of the DAO hammers installed and tell them you want a hammer than you can cock.

Of course you're going to spend some money in shipping...

You may be able to poke around and find one somewhere for sale, but you should be aware that there may be some fitting required.

John, I had thought about doing that as well, maybe I will have to do that after hunting season if I can't find anything else.

I bought a hammer for a SP101 off ebay a few months ago. It's pretty much a drop in part. I've seen hammers for GP100's at times on ebay

I called Ruger last year about converting my SP101 from DAO to DA and it would've cost $120 or so to do it. Shipping both ways, parts and labor. Wasn't worth it to me at the time.

I found a hammer for $30 on ebay and did it myself.
