A while back I discovered that Magpul ran a line of airsoft accessories called Magpul PTS (practice, train, and simulation. I think)

It's much lower quality stuff obviously, then their main products, and the PTS stuff is made in China with plastic instead of the Magpul polymer.
It's also a lot cheaper...

So I got a Magpul VFG for like $8, an AFG for around $12, the multi mission 1 or 2 point sling for sub $10, and the actual "mag pulls" for really cheap.

Everything has held up very well. I wouldn't use sub par optics or lights, or anything that I would trust my life to, but a vertical fore grip? Yeah, I'll try the $8 version first...

You can even get the Magpul precision stock, that'll work on a real AR-15 or AR-10 if you have a real A2 or carbine buffer tube.

Anybody else use airsoft grade stuff on their guns?

My favorite AR grip has been the Stowaway grip made by Lone Star Ordnance. This company is long out of business. By chance, a few years ago, I found that Numrich still had a supply of the Airsoft version of the Stowaway grip. This was absolutely the same as the regular version, except that the hole for the selector detent spring wasn't drilled. This was a very simple thing to fix. I think I bought up all of Numrich's remaining supply.

Probably a LOT more fellas than would want to admit it given the contamination of the *real-gun* market with knock-off crap.

We were approached by Airsoft to allow licensing of two of our guns in their line.

I already knew principals at companies who had mistakenly thought it a good idea in the past. They had to pull the licensing for the amount of time and money wasted when some goof would get a GREAT deal on a marked part and then tried to warranty it through the actual company.

Aside from much of the actual Airsoft licensed items being made of cheese - once the licensing was allowed the fake Airsoft market got into full swing. Who saw THAT coming.

Todd.

I bought a set of the flip up Magpul PTS sights and stuck them on my AR15 and they did fine. I saw no real difference between them and the "real ones". They have been on a friend's 9mm AR for a couple of years now, without breaking and that gun is treated pretty roughly.

I have what is most likely an air soft claw mount for the reflex sight on my MP5SD .22LR. It and the butt stock came from HK parts dot com. The mount is very well made and rock solid.

I have used the PTS foregrips with no problems. I tried a trigger guard once, because I could find the airsoft version of a Knight that had been out of stock for years. Dimensions were off, and I broke it trying to waller out the hole. BUIS are known to be sub-par, popping up or off on their own. Pistol grips, I would always go with real steel. But, non-critical accessories, if saving is more important than quality, and you can accept it if it does not last as long, no worries. I have also tried a bunch of the airsoft versions to decide what I like, then ordered one of the real ones when I decided.

That's actually an excellent idea!

I figured the foregrips would be fine, and they have been. In fact, the Magpul PTS vertical foregrip feels just like the real thing to me. The AFG you can definitely tell isn't "real". Either way, I'm not a special forces guy kicking in doors in the middle east. I'm just a guy who built his AR one part at a time as I could afford it.

I do not have sub par optics or lights on my main guns, those all have the real thing.

But I'll put cheap stuff on my 22s.
