I bought a Walther P22 last week for a cheap way to shoot, and thats it. The p22 sells for $300. I was just given a 1973 Ruger Standard/Mark I (serial #11-2xxxx) by my uncle - this is a gun I have always wanted and it looks like brand new. I have ZERO need for more than one .22lr pistol. I also purchased a S&W M&P40 about a month ago and have been wondering if I should have went .45acp with the M&P. Bottom line - would I be crazy to trade the Walther and the S&W (both new) for a new S&W M&P45? I know I would be losing money, like trading in a truck so soon after the buy - but I don't want two .22's. All opinions welcome. Reagards everyone.

p.s. Anybody looking for a Walther P22?

A gun is worth what you are willing to pay or trade for it. Do what makes you happy. With ammo going up, we should all be stocking up on .22 pistols though :D

You'll do better if you sell the P22 and M&P40 online or walking around a gun show than you will trading them in. Selling online may not bring full value, due to shipping and transfer, but you may still come out better than trading to a gun shop. From your post it sounds like they haven't been shot, so your dealer may make you a good deal, if you're on good terms with him.

Either way, I'd get rid of those two and get a .45. I may be a little biased because I'm not a .40 guy, and I think a .45 would be better regardless. (Especially in a 1911 :D) And I'd probably never shoot the Walther either if I had a Mark I. So, lose the ones you don't want and get one you do.
