Normally I don't like to post where I'm at but this board is of a different quality than most.

So if anyone in Butte-Glenn or nearby counties could drop me a line I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
H2L

You're not alone. I'm about 45 min to the south. Marysville/Yuba City to be exact. Why? ;)

Looking for people to shoot with.

Set up an outing that sort of thing.

Ultimately I would like to find a good private-owned place to do some long gun shooting.

My local range is not rated for rifle calibers and the only outdoor range near me is in Oroville and is, I have heard, frequented by gang members and other undesirables. I have no intention of mingling with such or having my children around such.

I might buy some property out in the boonies, but that is not going to happen for a while if it ever does.

Thank you for the reply.

I go to Oroville all the time. Usually make a trip out of it and hit up Huntingtons and the range for some rifle practice. I have yet to run into unscrupulous characters out there. Maybe some inconsiderate ones, but gangmembers? Haven't seen 'em.

When and where ya want to go? I'm off work for the next two weeks.

Actually, you have a PM.

Ed

Thank you both.

At the moment I do not own anything worthy of anyone making a special trip.

Just a couple of HP22s and an AR7 .22 the type that breaks down and fits in the stock.

As soon as the insurance money rolls in I 'll be going on a buying spree.

A decent pistol, a shotgun, a rifle and so on. Once that happens I would like to go shoot them of course. And I want my wife and kids to go along. And I would like them to have some good stuff as well.

So now I'm just trying to plan ahead. See who is out there and see if I can get any interest.

So I'm thinking in terms of weeks rather than days. Depending on the other guy's insurance people it could be a month or more.

Is there any kind of outside shooting facility in the North State? I know the police acadamy at Butte College has something and there is something in Gridley that I passed by once, but is there anything else? I mean is there a practical course anywhere, not just a range set up?

You should come out to the Central California THR meet that we are having that first weekend of June. There will be alot of cool toys to check out and you can add or subtract from the list of things you want to play with.

SLO= San Luis Obispo Its about 4 hours from Sacramento but seriously worth it to meet up with new shooters and make some life long friends. I met Skunk and Duke of Lawnchair this last Thanksgiving when they were out in Sacramento and had a hoot!!!

I was in SLO once years ago on GreenPeace business...never really got to see the place. Got a kick out of th SLO Transit buses though.

I'll talk to the wife, we'll be in Redding the weekend previous to that and she may not want another trip so soon.

Also, I don't want to feel like a freeloader only showing up with my puny weapons.

Just show up. When I organized the first THR Sacramento Shoot. All I had was a 9mm and a beat up Ruger MKII. Everyone shares. If your worried about feeling like a "freeloader" just bring ammo.

We all started with puny guns at one point. :D

The only two that I know of and frequent are Spenceville and Oroville. I would gladly pick Oroville any day over Spenceville. To many yahoos out at Spenceville and it's definitely not a family environment. Sorry that I couldn't be much more help.

Throw me a PM or an email when you're ready to shoot. Don't worry about bringing guns..between 45R and I, there's plenty to go around.

There is also Yolo Sportsmans Association in Woodland, next to Yolo Airport 7 and 25 yard pistol range with 50/100 yard rifle range. Very family oriented and very strict on gun safety.

BAH!

Nonsense.

I can't speak for anyone else, but you're more than welcomed for a test drive of my guns.

From what I know of 45R and Skunk, neither would they. They're stand-up guys.

Try and make it if you can.

The wife and i have entered into negotiations.

Turns out the eldest kid has a birthday that weekend, the fact of which I had spaced.

I'm trying to convince the both of them that going shooting is the best present of all.

hello from chico

Sorry to come so late to the party, but I just checked out this area for the first time today. I live in Chico, and am looking for people to shoot with too. I've had no experience with gangsters at Oroville - just ignorami who have no concept of range safety. I'm able to go most any time during the week. I have a friend with 40 acres in Corning who has given an open invite to shooters, so that's a possibility too.

Forgot your own child's birthday?!?

LOL

My old man still doesn't know how old I am.

That's the spirit!

In case you and your family won't be able to make it, happy-early birthday to your child.
