Due to a family situation, it is possible that I will need to move to the Schenectady, NY area in the near future. Knowing that NYS isn't exactly nirvana when it comes to 2A issues (or much else for that matter, so far as I can see), I'd like to make getting a handgun license as straightforward as possible. I could be within about a 30-45 min drive of Schenectady, so my options are likely Schoharie, Schenectady, Saratoga, Montgomery, Fulton, and possibly Rensselaer (not ideal to have to travel through Albany due to traffic, though doable at the northern end of the county) counties. Already being a CHL holder, I'd hope that it wouldn't be too much of an issue, but alas ...
Does anybody have any suggestions for the most 2A friendly counties in that area? Any information on typical wait times, availability of unrestricted licenses, etc. would be appreciated. In addition, general information about the "friendly" areas such as school quality would be useful in making a decision.
