Well I got to thinking that constructing a cannon could be fun, and done on a lathe quite easily. Yes I am aware of the physics and stuff, I am not going to blow myself up.

Does anyone know the legal status and hoops you have to go through to construct a 1" or greater bore diameter Black-powder muzzle-loading cannon?

Awesome, just wanted to check I wasn't going to break a law I didn't know existed.

It's back to Solidworks for me now to figure out how thick to make this thing.

Ya I saw that page, I can run analysis in Solidworks and I am not trusting those plans to be scaleable up or down based on material availability.

As long as I know my chamber size I am good.

When I was a kid we made one in my garage that shot D Batteries and one that shot Golf Balls...Russ
