Anybody know what the difference is between "Shurshot Heavy Dove" and "Heavy Dove"?

I ordered three cases of R12HD8 Remington Shurshot Heavy Dove from budsgunshop. These are the red and green heavy dove boxes. They sent me three cases of RHD128 Remington Heavy Dove. These are Green and Tan boxes.

Heres where it gets tricky. The cases they sent me are marked RHD128 on the outside. I opened one, and the boxes are green and tan, and say R12HD8 on the bottom. I like the red and green Shurshots, and don't really want to switch. However, if they're the same load, then who cares.

Anybody know if these are the same thing, or should I send them back?

The older Remington primer boxes had green and redish colors the newer ones are green and tan. Might be the same with your ammo. If the part numbers are the same they might be as well. Notice how the old ones have a brass colored base and the new ones are aluminum. A definite cost reduction measure right there.;) They are both 12 GA #8 shot with the same dram load so I believe that they are the same.

Well, absent a response from Remington, I suppose you could go pattern the heavy dove loads and see how they do.

Maybe this is a sign from the Almighty that you should be loading your own?

If anyone is interested, here is the response I got from Remington customer service:

"Thank you for contacting Remington. ShurShot heavy dove loads are exclusive to Academy Sports. The loads are the same.

Thank you and best regards,
Remington Customer Services"

Also, budsgunshop, the business I purchased them from never responded to my inquiry. I guess once they have your money, you're no longer of concern. Not so great customer service on their part.

Notice how the old ones have a brass colored base and the new ones are aluminum.

Not aluminum, but steel; easily picked up with a magnet stick. Except for the high end target loads, they also have a brass-washed steel base hull that looks like brass but is steel.

If the specs are the same, it shouldn't matter
Those 3-1/4, 1-1/8oz loads are also available in Gun Clubs and their target ammo (although the top of the line stuff uses better components)
