Anybody now looking at a hi cap weapon?

Are you now considering purchasing a hi capacity firearm?

Well after the debate and finally hearing from the horse's mouth that they'll be seeking a new assault weapons ban my thoughts have shifted from small pocket pocket guns to hi cap rifles. Basically I'm just wondering if anyone else that didn't have a hi cap firearm on their mind has changed their mind recently.

Lets try and keep the discussion on guns and not politics so this thing can run it's course without being locked.

If you want one, you better get it now. Obama and Romney are both highly likely to ban assault weapons if they get half a chance.

I sure hope something like that doesn't happen. Living in NJ is bad enough but having it be inescapable will be pure hell.

Gun control is not in favor right now.

You are correct. And less than half the population approved of Health Care Reform. How did that work out?

Not really... If I hear of a bill being pushed through congress I might consider picking up a case of mags. Based solely on campaign rhetoric? Not a chance.

I went ahead and bought 3 more Magpul 30 round mags (I know, not much but some standards), but I had been wanting a few more anyway.

My purchase of an AR this week had nothing to due with the debate. Bought my lower on Saturday and my upper on Sunday. I'll probably buy some 30 round mags, but I'd be doing that anyway.

Not at all. The SKS is said to work best with the original mag.
The Enfields' magazines and the Garand's clips have historical significance. The standard 5-rd. Mauser mags of both Spanish FR8s are compensated for by their character and handiness.

So far, we seem to have No swarms of human swine such as Hezbollah or Taliban infesting west TN. If this situation changes, I'll add the appropriate rifle (if not already here) and take instruction from veterans of recent combat.

If I were seeking a normal cap. (let's not say "high-cap.") rifle, it would probably be a Czech Vz-58 rifle, which is milled and has
a BHO feature when empty. The fact that it is Czech would be enough reason for me.

I was already looking for a Saiga at a decent price for an AK conversion, the debate just moved it a little higher on the priority list, but not by much. High capacity seems to be a vague term. I think that the general consensus has become ten rounds are standard and any more are high capacity. That's why "everybody" has them. I've always thought of AR and AK 30-rounders to be standard to the platform, myself.

What is a hi cap weapon? Pretty much everything has hi cap mags.

I seem to remember anything over 10 was considered hi cap... and that would limit even some sub compact pistols.

Better start practicing my reloads more often, just in case.

ive already got more than i need but less than i want no matter what happens

I guess I'm always considering getting something uses a high capacity magazine, regardless of political rhetoric.

You mean standard-cap?

There is reduced capacity, 10 rds (for guns that nominally take 11+ rds)
Standard capacity 11-30 rds
High capacity 30+ rds.

I would think and maybe wrong thinking at that, but with regard to AR`s , AK`s.

The normal capacity for the normal magazines use in these semi auto rifles is 30 rounds. A high capacity mag for these rifles would the 100 round beta-c mags for the AR and the 75 round drum mags for the AK.

Well, probably won't change much for me. It really isn't the guns, it's the mags! I may pick up couple more p-mags and maybe another mag or two for my 92FS. But I was planning to do that anyway, eventually. Never can have too many!

Nobody is proposing an AWB ban, and it wouldn't get passed. It is political suicide. Stop the fearmongering.

Will you also delay buying a fire extinguisher until after the fire breaks out? Wait until you have a flat to buy a spare, then learn how to change it?

Yes they are proposing an assault wepons ban, they said it on TV, during the debate. You can bet that this will happen in some shape or form. Weather they allow our current rifles and pistols to be grandfathered in is the question. Ayoobs latest blog entry bassically said the same thing. Even extension tubes for shotguns may be included. This is real.
If you were around last time you wouldn't take it so lightlly. This is the same one size fits all mentality that the Government applies to everything from guns to prescription drugs. They don't care if you have Cancer, you can't get your pain medication.
I couldn't get my Lab who has cancer her pain meds, and she obciouslly is a dog. Don't think for a minute your guns are off limits, that's how you loose them. Unify and start raising hell now, let them know if they do this you won't vote for them, put it out there. I use my facebook and anything that gets hit's , plus my senator and congressman. If you sit on your butt, you will lose your guns.
