I prioritized this sort of purchase after the 2008 election - don't need to buy any more.

I don't think in terms of high and low capacity or impending political circumstances when I buy. I buy what I want/need.

For example...

If I'm currently looking to acquire a 5rd LCR, but then I hear/read the recent comments about additional gun control possibilities, I'm not going to abandon the first idea and instead impulsively buy a 20rd XD9. If I want/need an LCR, an XD9 is not a suitable substitute.

Absolutely concur. But if a wish list contains, say, a BHP and a Springfield Range Officer, then perhaps buying the BHP now would be mo' better than putting it off until later.

Such was my logic in 2008, and I don't see anything patently incorrect about it.

Nobody is proposing an AWB ban, and it wouldn't get passed. It is political suicide.

You do realize that if Obama is reelected, "political suicide" does not matter, right?

And if you watched the debate, there was mention of a renewed AWB....

Yep, agree.

Somewhere down on my list is an M&P9. It's been on the list for years and it is not moving up my list for any reason. It keeps getting punted further down actually. I admit that if new gun control was really looking to be on the move, I'd stop piddling around and find one. But I couldn't make that jump just on the outcome of an election. Then again, by the time I got off my butt to grab one, it would probably be foolishly late and I'd be paying a premium.

Yep, maybe I should think a little more about all this. Hmmm.

I've never wanted a High capacity magazine...

A Standard capacity 50-100 round Calico still has my attention. ;) (Support Oregon Gunmakers!)

I just need to stop being so darn responsible with my bills, and save up for it.

I was saving up for a decent AR before the debate... I'm more angry because I don't have the money yet and might not be able to find one in a month or two when I can actually buy one.:fire:

I, for one, would love an "AWB ban" :p

I find myself wishing I had more magazines, but I refuse to give in to any desire to stockpile.

I am prepared for another ban but I truly hope one is not in our future. More regulation is not the answer to the problem.

What is a "hi-cap" weapon or an "assault rifle"?

Do you mean a weapon with a standard issue magazine and a semi-automatic sporting rifle?

If they can get YOU to call them by their preferred name, then their reeducation methods are working

I used the words "hi cap" in my post as well as in the poll because I'm wondering about people buying firearms that would be considered high capacity under another assault weapons ban, not because I'm pandering to the anti-gun sentiment.

Your idea of standard capacity and the government's idea of standard capacity are two different things. My only goal was to find out if others hand been influenced by the debate to buy a rifle or pistol that is considered high capacity by the overlor...I mean politicians.

Poll numbers thus far indicate what I'm seeing in the gun stores I frequent - there is little or no panic buying going on.

Alot of people have already stocked up on weapons over the last couple of years.

David E: That's certainly a fair question which you asked, and always welcome.
If we suddenly lived 'WROL', which seems to be the common concern that motivates huge numbers of semi-auto rifle sales, having a larger magazine than the 10-rd. SKS mag. might be totally unnecessary for us. We are far from 'the hood', and on the very edge of a semi-rural area, but have other concerns.

WROL, the deadly serious requirement to have insulin + test strips (etc) constantly shipped long-distance by UPS to my Type One diabetic wife, then stored in an operative refrigerator, would probably not be improved by having a rifle with a higher-capacity magazine.

But I could easily be mistaken. All of you guys' views (or gals': i.e. "Faliaphotography's" views on Youtube) are informative and might be helpful.

Gun control, at the national level, is political suicide. I'm not too concerned with a ban.

4 years ago I told everybody there wouldn't be a ban.

I'm not seeing it changing this time.
