Totally agree!! Just would like some communication; that’s all!

The problem with most gunsmiths is that don't understand the open top single action. If you have found one keep them a secret so that they don't get over run with to much work to be able to keep up.
Wow!! This "tinkerer" puts revolvers in your hands that win State championships (multiples!)!
Nope, didn't learn it overnight like others here would if they had the initiative to do so (apparently).
At a time when you're working 2 jobs and learning, I realize it's way easier for everyone else to quit one and take off with the other . . . happens all the time. I had to make sure and if it didn't work, I'm sure "care packages" would have piled up at the front door!!
Also, at a time when there's very few that even do this kind of "tinkering" , it can easily get out of hand and overwhelming . . . I wish they would have told me what the future would be (since they apparently know ).
I just find it amazing that all these folks that think this way started their careers knowing everything there is to know on day one . . . or the first month, or the first year , or even 5 years later !!!
"Specialists" are just that, they are interested in doing a specific job, to the best of their knowledge . . . at that time! If you know better, then tell them or go elsewhere! Some have and others ( most ) have stayed and had multiples done . . . they understand. Some though, just can't stand not slinging mud if they get a chance, which says a lot more about them. It used to bother me but not anymore. I've been fixing other "known" tinkerers" (even a well known "gunsmith" lol!!) work for a while but I don't crow about it, I don't call it out anybody can make a mistake (well most anyway).
So, if I have taught anybody any "tinkering" (you know who you are but I won't call you out!lol) and you want to step into the water, just be aware, bitterness can and will crop up when least expected . . . but if you love what you do, keep doing it.
Mike
PS. If you want to know something or how to do something, just ask. If I know, I'll tell ya . . . free of charge.
Mike I specifically called you a "craftsman" because I am well aware of the quality work you actually do, first hand. I wasn't enamored with your priorities or sense of focus, but that was in the earlier days of you offering your services. I'm sure things are better now. I did make the decision, though, to only send my guns to a licensed gunsmith that is well known for working on these revolvers we all love. I watched while others jumped into your area of expertise and started offering services as well. I'm not prophetic or anything, but I could see this coming. I hope the kid comes back and makes everything right, but he is not a certified gunsmith, with an actual business license to do these things. My way, I think, is less risky.Wow!! It's no secret. Gary Lee Barnes. He's hoofhearted in this forum and several others. His website is cartridgeconversion.com.
I don't mean to sound upset but "The Kid" told me he was done (and I paid him) with my 1861 over 6 months ago. No communication at all since then. Believe me I have tried. I really don't know how to proceed at this point.
Hi Lyle, just moved to Benson area, southeast of Tucson.
Upset? I'd be plain pissed. Nobody is so busy that they can't stop by a post office for a solid 6 months or at the very least send an email.I don't mean to sound upset but "The Kid" told me he was done (and I paid him) with my 1861 over 6 months ago. For me only acceptable excuse would be the gun tuner "has permanently left the building", is in a coma, or is incarcerated. Either way, you're out of a gun.
I have spent somw time in remote Alaska. I can understand the delay. It's a different world where just staying alive is a challenge. A month to get a part would be quick in my book. No I have no dog in this, just my thoughts.
Keep your flits sharp
