Anybody see one of these Double Tap Pistols? My LGS has one in .45 ACP. I simply cannot imagine what the recoil would do to your hand.

I am looking for a pistol that I can put in my pants pocket or hooded sweat shirt pouch without the need of a holster.

Suggestions to that effect and/or comment on the Double Tap (link below) are much appreciated.

looks interesting but for the size i'd rather have my 380. 6+1 capacity. or a xds 45 cant be much bigger. But... for an interesting back up carry piece it maybe cool. Just not my current cup of tea.

Held only - did not fire.

I wasn't impressed, it doesn't do anything more than a KT pf9.

They are impressively thin, and I like thin guns, but I think they're just for the "no polymer" fetishists.

Can't say I have, I also can't say I've heard one positive comment from someone shooting them.

Apparently recoil is bad, accuracy is bad, and I've even heard a mention or two of the gun "doubling", recoiling so bad that both shots are fired at once... IMHO a high price to pay for the ability to send two .45 caliber rounds at an attacker.

The main problem with the design, right now, is that if you shoot the bottom chamber first, the recoil is enough to cause to the firing pin in the top chamber to hit and fire off the cartridge in the top chamber.

Here is a complete review of the gun, including footage of two rounds firing out of the gun with one pull of the trigger:

He's lucky he didn't tear a tendon or ligament in his hand or even break his thumb.

I agree with lobo9er in that a pocket pistol in a smaller caliber, with more than three times the firepower (four in mine, which is a P32) that will fit anywhere one of these will is probably a better bet. Less than half the price, three-to-four times the round count, easier to handle/hit with, and ready for rapid reloading makes the choice, to me at least, a no-brainer.

Still, would be a neat attention-getter if money wasn't an issue. And, I bet there are some guys out there tough enough to make it work well for them.

Pardon my faux pas, I watced the video and observed the chrono results.

Recoil would be unpleasant, but a bigger issue for me is the velocity of the projectile fired. The barrels are short and ported so I don't see the bullets having enough energy upon exit to be as effective as one would desire. I would like to see one shot through a chrono in 45acp as well as 9mm to see just how much velocity would be generated.

HOK Ever handgun needs a holster !! And at the size of the DT I can carry a cm9 or 40 or pm45. Only a couple oz's more and 3 more rounds quicker at the ready. I rather carry a micro 380 with corbons dpx than a DT. Those thangs have a awful trigger and no width to soften recoil.

Well you'll have to wait until some other brave soul steps up to test these things because after the double bang from the DoubleTap Bruce said:

I've added all I can to the body of knowledge on the DoubleTap. Time for someone else to take their turn.

Even with the 'modern' look...

It's a derringer.

I carry an H&K USPc every day. I can put a K frame S&W revolver in a pocket at need. No point in reverting to a limited round count, hard to reload under stress, hard to shoot design.
