I'm looking at buying a Single Six, 5.5", fixed sights with both 22LR and 22 WMR cylinders. I'm pretty sure this revolver will shoot to different points of aim with the two cartridges.

Question is how much?

I would imagine that this would be hard to state with precision unless you have a specific loading in mind for each caliber, as well as a specified distance.

Target ammo, high velocity, or hyper velocity .22 LR? What weight in .22 magnum, etc. Seven yards, 25 yards, 50 yards, etc.

I have an adjustable sight 5.5" Single-Six, and find that just about every ammo prints to different locations, but normally within 2" at 25 feet, which is good enough for me, but YMMV.

The difference in mine with a 4 3/4" barrel is about 2-3" on the vertical. However, I do need to address the 6" low and 2" right with .22 ammo problem before I worry about learning the different poa/ poi for .22 vs. .22mag. The single sig is one of my very favorite and handy pistols.

i have a fixed sight 1972 " old model" 22lr/22mag. blade front , drift fixed rear.

i contacted ruger and they told me fixed sight sixes are range tested @ 15 yards. the poi should be hi at short range because of trajectory of .22's.

i have tested at 10 feet and 12 yards.

at 10 feet ( to check sights) i get great 6 shot groups that are centered but 3 inches above poa.

at 12 yards it is about 1 3/4 inches hi.

i had the same problem with iron sighted .22s until i realized the rise of the bullet path.

keep in mind that at some point the poa and poi will cross. once you know when they will cross its just a matter of hold over for longer range and aiming slightly low for closer range.

im a fairly new shooter ( 2 years) so i dont mean to ramble about info you guys probably already know. im my opinion it helped to have someone reinstate the basic fundamentals.

if anyone is wondering my old model was only shot 20 times by the original owner so im still breaking it in. the only thing it has is holster wear and scratches on the grip.
