I alternate between carrying an XD9 and a 229 in 9mm in my High Noon Tail Gunner (IWB). They both feel about the same to me, stuck back there.

but you need a good holster and you need to up-size your trousers a couple of inches.

I found it cheaper to just lose a bit of weight.
