Anyone else have 597 problems???

hi guys, my remington .22lr 597 is having major problems. the magazine just wont go in if the action is not open. i have to litterally jam it in to get it to stay. what can be causing this? does anyone else have this problem with their 597?

I've had this happen after some prolonged shooting (150ish rounds). I just hold the bolt back with my thumb and use the rest of my fingers to get the magazine in but I am a Lefty so Right handers would have a problem with this. I think it may be the rifle heating up but you don't mention it occuring during or after shooting. It may be that it doesn't like having 10 rounds in the mag. try loading 8 or 9 and see if it will work. That's my best guess.

it happens all the time even with an empty mag before or after shooting.i litterally have to force it in if the bolt is forward.

loaded, unloaded? My 597 wouldnt allow me to put the magazine in with more then 8rounds in it, unless it was open. It SUPPOSED to be open to put a mag in tho i guess lol, most semis are.

Have two and no problems with either. The mags do require a good push to get locked in on a closed bolt if they have 10 rounds in them, but they go in.
